What time does Kilimanjaro Safari quit running?

When Animal Kingdom is open until 8 pm, or there is EMH until say 8 or 10 pm, when does the Safari quit running?

We were hoping to come in for just the last two hours one night, arriving at 6 pm when the regular park hours are until 8 pm, and take an evening safari.

I'm looking for experiences with this attraction when the park is open later than usual, thanks!

When I was there in December 2006 it closed 1/2 hour before the park closed.

We always go in the winter months, so I don't know about the summer hours but...

When the park closes at 5 the last safari leaves at 4:30. Africa is not open during EMH, so safari doesn't run.

There aren't any flood lights on the serengeti, you really wouldn't see anything in the dark.

What babar41 said, it opened at 8am and stopped at 4:30pm when the park closed at 5:00pm.

The ride always closes around sunset, it seems, regardless of when the park closes. I've been to AK when the park was open until 8:00 (the weekend after Thanksgiving). Sunset was around 5:00, so that was the end of the safari. But I've also been to the park in the summer when EMH was until 8:00 Sunset was at 7:30, the last safari was at 7:00

The animals (most of them, anyway) go into shelters at night, so there's not much to see on the Serengeti.

Last week there were several sign at AK notifying guests "due to early sunset" the last safari would leave at 4:45pm. The park was closing at 6:00p.m.

Thanks everyone for the input so far. It sounds like we should be able to ride the Safari until 7 or 7:30 p.m. in the summer, if the park is open until 8 p.m. I don't think the sun even goes down until 8.

When we were there over Christmas, there was a sign posted that the last safari would leave at 4:30.

Even with the park open til 8 for the holidays, the last run was at 4:30.

When I was there in June, the last safari departed at 7:00, park closing was 8:00.

That's right. During the summer the safari will be running later, while during the fall/winter the safari will close between 4-5.

It can close as early as 4 PM, so plan accordingly.

Were the other rides and restaurants open until park closing? I am arriving in the afternoon and EMH is at AK that day. I was wondering if AK from say 2:00 to 8 would be enough. I definitely would want to ride Safari!

Maybe we will just do DTD the first night...decisions, decisions.
P.S. We only have 4 day base tickets--no hoppers and 4 nights/5 days to use them.

And just wanted to point something else out. If you want to ride safari on days it closes early, make sure to do the safari first thing. FPs go pretty quickly.
