What time does it get dark?

Hopefully not a daft question but what time does it get dark in Southern California? I watch 24 and it always seems to be dark by 5.30pm, is that correct? We are there the 1st two weeks in May?

During May, Disneyland doesn't get really dark until after 7PM. The sun completely sets around 7:40PM during the first half of May. The 5:30 darkness of "24" is just another example of Hollywood bending the truth.

Sure, it gets dark by 5:30 PM in Southern California -- in December! I'm in Northern California, just a tad west of LA, and it didn't get dark until 8 PM tonight. Unless there's a total eclipse of the sun when you are there, sunset will be after 7:30 and it shouldn't get dark until 8. (We are on Daylight's Savings Time)
