What time do you take your afternoon breaks?

Odd question but I was wondering when people leave DLR for the afternoon to take a little break (nap/swim). What do you do if the maid hasn't been to your room yet? Leave until she finishes? Put the do not disturb sign up and go without fresh towels? ;) How long of a break do you take and what time do you head back to DLR?

Every trip we run into this problem. We feel ready for a nap around 2pm (we were up at 5am) but then think we should wait longer so the maid can come. We are not interested in swimming but sometimes find somewhere else to hang around and wait. Maybe someone has a better schedule that we could try. :confused3 Just curious what other Dissers do.

Wow, never not have the maid come that early. I think most hotels have a little hanger that says you need service to hang on the door. That may get them there quicker. Myself, I would put the do not disturb sign out and nap. Take a shower later. OR call the desk explain the situation and ask for some towels to be sent up. OR, let the desk know that morning that you are coming back for a nap and could your room be done early.

We usually stay at Hojo and start our break anytime between 1:30 and 3:00. We have never had a situation when our maid service had not been done by that time. The last non-Hojo stay we had was at Candy Cane Inn, and we did not have any problem with a 2 PM break then either. Five or six years back, we had a problem with break time at Tropicana Inn. The hotel was pretty full, but they were never done with our room when we wanted to go back, usually between 1 and 3 PM, and since the boys were pretty young and got more tired and cranky then, we really cared about being able to get into our room. We were kind of just stuck waiting, so we sat around in the motel lobby and told them why and asked politely if it was possible to have our room done by 1 or 2 on future days. Didn't help with any of the subsequent days, and we had such generally abysmal customer service with everything from check-in, to maid service, to check-out that we haven't been able to bring ourselves to go back ever.

We are planing on taking our brake about 1 or 130 when we are there in sep-oct, we will go back to the park at about 3. 2 hours seems good for nap or swim some times we may leave at noon.

The maid has always been a problem with me. I will put the sign out saying do not disturb and when we go back to the park we will take it off so they can do our room when we are at the park after 3pm
I hope it works out for us this time

We always plan to take an afternoon break, and then it somehow never happens... :rolleyes1

Ah, well, the road to... Disneyland... is littered with good intentions. ;)

We've read all about how vital it is to take the nap (and maybe it is) but it just doesn't happen with us either! We just let the kids crash in their strollers and that works! :goodvibes

We go back between noon and two and its hit or miss if the maid has been there yet! If not we call the front desk tell them were napping and ask them to do the rooms when we leave and we will let them know when we do. Once in a while if it's just a two night trip we will ask for extra towels and coffee and not bother with maid service.

We do go from about 1400-1700 depending on what we have scheduled. Before I leave the room I let the front desk know we will be back at a certain time and the room has always been ready when we got back. Plus hang the maid service sign on the door.

My family (All adults) when in high season usually take our break about 2:00 in the afternoon. We like to have the time to go swimming when it is hot out, and have a bit of a rest before dinner. We generally leave for dinner about 5:30-6:00 and then head back to the park until closing as the park is usually open until 11 or 12 at night. In off season we have gone back about 1:00 and about 4 went back to the park for a few more hours of play time and had a late dinner.

We have generally lucked out having had our rooms cleaned before we got back for our afternoon rest, but there have been one or two occasions where they were in there. But we just told them to take their time and finish up, and we headed to the convenient store shop attached to our hotel for drinks and snacks.

We break from 1 to 4ish or 2 to 5ish depending on our daily plans. In general, we take a short nap/rest and then either Dh or I will head to the pool with the older kids while the other waits with our youngest while she finishes her nap and then heads to the pool. We get back to the room, the kids have a quick shower and have a snack, Dh and I usually will rinse in the shower quickly (we take another shower before bed) and then head out to dinner.

As for towels...we generally hang them up after our showers and reuse for 2-3 days. I hand them on hangers in the closet and tie a little ribbon around the hanger so we know which towel belongs to which person. We only have the maid come in once ever 3 days or so. If we happen to need more towels then we just call down to the desk (or mousekeeping) and ask for more to be sent up.

I never thought of that to keep track of towels. This trip is just DH and I so not a big deal with the towels but with the boys with us we found it was really hard to find enough space to hang up everyone's towel to reuse.

Tou all go from MM to midnight with out breaks????

We do, but I know it isn't for everyone. Our DD3 just falls asleep in her stroller when she's tired, so she takes a nap wherever we happen to be. Then at night, she does the same. We don't always stay until close, but it depends. We can always make it to closing in the off season, but sometimes leave around 10 or 11 if the parks are open late.
We use my DD's nap to kind of take a bit of a break. We'll leave half the party to have a Mickey Premium Bar or Dole Whip in the shade while half of us do headliner rides, and then swap. Works great!

Break time from 1-2pm to 4pm to beat the heat :) Nothing better than refreshing and refueling, along with fresh clothes, to get back out there and do it all over again!

LT :)

I would say that if we do take a break, it's between 2-3pm. I like to leave when the crowds seem to be at their worst, go back to the hotel for a break, have dinner and then return. This is assuming that we're staying for several days and have time to do that.

We don't even have toddlers. DH and I are the tired ones. :rotfl: If we don't take a nap then we can't seem to stay past 9pm. Early morning is the most important time for us. We only go during peak season, but I'd love to try off season sometime.

I assume the maids do the rooms that are checking out first so they will be ready for the next guests, then go back and do the others which is why the rooms always seem to be undone before 3pm.

We always take naps...when we did DLR trips prior to having our DD we didn't take naps and boy-oh-boy...were there blow ups with the "adults"...:lmao:

We usually go for opening/rope drop :drive:and then when we start getting hungry for lunch we leave the parks, have lunch and head back or have lunch at the hotel. We stay @ Hojo so the maid has been in/out when we return for lunchpopcorn:: but we do also put up the door hanger...because we are resting.

Then we return after our nap (no time frame) usually up to 2 hours later...and stay until supper time/or even have supper then go back until fireworks.

The one thing I highly recommend to friends is DO NOT PUSH YOURSELF!! We go for 6 day park hoppers...well we will this one last year :sad2: and take your time :thumbsup2

It is enjoyable that way and you don't get over "Disneyfied"...have a great trip :cloud9:pixiedust:
