What time do you fly out?

We are lucky enough to live about half an hour from BWI. Tons of flights and good prices. This trip we booked the first flight to MCO on Saturday morning. It was scheduled for 7am but has been changed to 6:40am. We will need to leave the house by 4am but it will get us to MCO by 9:15. We have no parks planned for that day just pool time, DTD and dinner.
Our return is the second to last flight of the day 7:15pm. It gives us almost an extra full day there but we should be home by 10:30/11 on Saturday night. DS has Sunday school the next morning and won't be thrilled but he can make it through an hour. We don't want him to miss 2 classes.

6am Saturdays flights are the best! Usually after work on Friday - I'm still packing or too tired to rush to the airport or risk being at work late if something comes up. I just fall asleep earlier Friday night and prepare my body to wake up early anyways for Early Park Admission or EMH!

Also - 6am flights to MCO is tons of sleepy kids in their Disney PJs and I'm right there along with them in my footies! :lmao:

I take the early weekday flight home - usually 8AM. No one is usually there and the Orlando traffic hasn't picked up. Also - I still have time when I get home that day!

I used to love the 6am non-stop flights to MCO--I would wake up early from excitement on departure day and it was so fun to have the whole day ahead of me when I landed.

Then I had a baby who sleeps until 7am like clock work.

There was no way in heck I was going to wake her up at 3:30am to catch a flight. Now we take mid-day flights to and from MCO.

We normally try to leave as early as possible for MCO. However, sometimes our decision is made due to cost of tickets from Indianapolis or other factors like when school ends. In October we leave at 4:00 PM due to ticket prices, and in December we leave at 5:45 PM so that our boys complete their day at school before going to Disney. In almost all cases we leave MCO on the last nonstop flight, so we can have almost a whole day at our happy place. :cool1:

In the past we always took the first flight of the day to Orlando and the last flight of the day home. We still take the first flight down, but we no longer take the last flight home. We have had several instances where our flight was delayed or cancelled due to weather. Okay, it happens.

However, one time we got as far as Virginia when we noticed the plane turned around--we were on our way back to Florida at around 10:00 at night. Weather was bad in NY and the airport there was closed. When we got to MCO I got on line to book the first flight out the next day and called WDW reservations to get a room. They asked if I wanted to go back to the Boardwalk but we chose to get a room at a value since we had a 7am flight. They set up Magical Express for us both ways. We had no luggage except our carry ons. Our ME pick up time for our flight home was 5am. We were outside at 4:45am but the bus didn't come. There was no one at the desk and no one around. Then I remembered that it was a time change for daylight savings time--spring ahead! Well, the bus driver didn't realize that so he was late. We made it just in the nick of time and I kind of envied the people who chose to wait at he airport!!!

Anyway we don't take the last flight anymore.

When it all works out, we prefer FOLI flights. (Isn't that an accounting term?)
First flight outta Houston in the wee hours...and last flight outta Orlando headed back. It's only jumped up and bit us once, when we got "stuck" in Orlando for an extra 3 days! :faint:

Exceptions occur, as in this Halloween trip...getting the kids out of school an hour early, and flying into Orlando early evening, mainly because the flight prices were more favorable. :smokin:
