Just wondering if anyone who has cruised in the last couple of weeks can tell me what time the shows start on the Magic. I understand there is no longer staggered dining times and I was just wondering what times the shows will be running for early/late diners.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but we will be on the Eastern cruise.

Thanks.

While some sailings have shown to have single dining times, I wouldn't always count on it. If the ship is full, they will probabaly have staggared times. Anyway, traditionally, the shows start at 6:15 PM and 8:30 PM.

Just off the March 28th Eastern and the dining times relative to show times won't matter. They leave plenty of wiggle room after the shows for dining if you have the late seating and you have plenty of time to get to the 8:30 show with the 5:45 early seating. Though even if they go back to staggered seating for dinning you'd still have plenty of time!:upsidedow

The show times are not dependent upon staggered or one dining time. The ship is nearly always full--if it doesn't fill with standard guests, DCL will offer FL res rates, CM specials, etc. in order to fill it. That said, 6:15 and 8:30 shows are standard. If one show is a movie, it will start earlier so that it will be over in time for dinner.

If you have late seating, you'll have time after the show for another activity or to change clothes, etc.

I'm confused now about dining times on the Magic. We were on the March 21sailing, and the ship used the standard 3 times per each seating. I thought the Magic dining times were still staggered and the Wonder dining times were not.

On the March 28 sailing on the Magic, the dining times were staggered. However, last week they were not and they had started the "Dine and Play" program. Dine and Play sounds like what many of us have done for years--ask server to bring out kid food all at once, then dessert, then mom excuses herself and takes kid to club or lab. However, now CM comes to dining room and signs kids into club there...no need for mom to take kid.

Thanks for the help everyone.

We are leaving for our first cruise soon and we are on early dining and I am just so confused as to whether or not to change to late.

I just feel we will have to go get showered/ready so we can be at dinner but really even if we switch to late we would have to be ready anyhow to get to the show before dinner.

I not really crazy about eating at 8:30/9:00 at night either and I don't think my kids would like that either.

Is it true that with late seating the kids miss some of the really fun stuff in the kids clubs?

You are correct- even if you change to late dining you still have to get ready early for the show (unless you get ready in between the show and late dining but we sure never found that enough time to shower, fix hair, all 5 get dressed, etc.- no way! We always just had to do it before the show). This time we'll do main dining- two times late dining didn't work (first time with the kids, 2nd time they didn't eat dinner with us every night).

The dine and play will help with late dining to get the kids in the club without the parent(s) having to leave dinner to take them- it's a great idea because YES they do tend to have some of the funner activities (atleast according to my kids on both cruises in all age groups) later during late dining. That's why we didn't make them eat with us every night on the 2nd cruise because they wanted to be in the club/lab and it was not fun having to take turns leaving to take them to the club/lab during dinner. but they have dine and play now to help with that which I think is great- but still I think we'll try early dining.. we'll still have to get ready early regardless (for early dining or for show before late dining)
