What time did you actually get your villa?

From reading some of these threads, it's appararent that many DVC'rs get their villas way past the 4pm check in time. As a members since 2000, no matter the resort, no matter the time of year, no matter the time of day, I've never been made to wait to get into our villa. I've arrived at 9:30am, 11am, noon. As a rule since we drive in, we usually arrive around 1:30pm and never had a problem. The only time I got my room after 4pm is when I arrived at 5:30pm. To be honest the longest wait we've had has been in the check in line at AKV but I still got the villa before noon, I just waited in line for 50 minutes to get it. Maybe it has to do with the accomodations, we 95% of the time get a 2BR, studios go quick, maybe that's the issue or is it resort related. What has been your experience, as far as check in time and when you actually get into your villa?

Me too- member since 2000- never waited long at all for our villas on any trip. Once we had a delayed flight, and were on a tight schedule to make our lunch ressie in Epcot, so we only got to our room after lunch. It may be a bit "light" on help could be a factor as well.

Our experiences as best I can remember....all check ins are done about 10:00 in the morning.

VWL...several trips and all except one of them we didn't get a room until nearly 4:00 or sometimes later.

OKW...two trips and both times we got our room after 4:00.

BWV...four trips and every time got into our room prior to 1:00...usually the room is ready when we check in.

BCV...one trip and room was not ready until about 3:00

We typically travel in the summer and check in on a Sunday morning. We also have no problem with waiting for the room and whenever we get one early we consider it a bonus.

Hmmm, I never thought about it before, but I think the only times we had to wait for check-in was when paying cash at non DVC resorts. We usually take the first a.m. flight and arrive between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

I am always "prepared" to wait though!

Usually have had to wait, sometimes a long time, at BCV - occasionally past 4 pm. I suspect this is because we usually reserve 2BR- 2Q, and there is only a limited number of these units.

We checked into a studio at BCV on Dec 28th at 9:00am. I justed went to check in and get the keys before we went to BB but they had a room ready so we took it.

We generally travel in May, October, and December. We usually arrive between 10 & 11 o'clock.
We have a mix of room being ready at check in, thru not ready until 4 o'clock... No telling where it falls in that timeframe. That holds true for the best three DVC Resorts,, excuse me,, the three DVC Resorts that we stay at--> VWL, AKV, and VB.

Maybe it has something to do with views/sections that people request. If you are happy with taking whatever..........then maybe that is why you always get in early?? We had to wait for our room the very first time we stayed on DVC points in Aug. 07. However we requested Congress Park and the CM did offer us another location but we elected to wait for our request. Our other trips...we arrived late afternoon/evening so no wait but when we did our split/switch from one DVC to another the past two summers..we waited for BWV but not BCV and it was a dedicated 2 br with both queen beds. Both times...we left resort at check out...went to DTD for shopping and lunch and arrived around 2:00 at both resorts. I apologize if this has been metioned. I have not read through the thread yet.

The earliest we have ever arrived is about 1:00. We usually get there between 2:30 and 3:30. Many trips over many years, mostly BWV, last couple of years also AKV. About 50% of the time our room has been ready when we arrived and the other 50% we have had to wait until 4 and once until after 5. That once screwed up a dinner reservation (we wanted to shower before going), was one too many times to wait beyond 4 and my personal view is that it should not happen, ever.

Usually we arrive late in the evening and so never have had an issue with getting our room upon arrival. However, this last trip, at the end of January, we arrived around 10:30AM (on a Thursday) and didn't get a room until after 4PM. We didn't request anything special, just wanted a room, so I don't think that's it.

On 2 of our 4 DVC trips, we've arrived between 11:15-12 once we've had a wait of approximately an hour: til 1-ish (maybe a little after). At VWL, the Villa wasn't ready, we hopped down to Roaring Fork for lunch and by the time we were done, we were set. At BWV, it was ready at check-in.

The other two trips, we didn't check in till later (although before 4 PM) and the villa was also ready.

Our last trip, we arrived at SSR around noon on Jan. 26th. We did not get into our 2BR until about 5pm.

At WDW, we've checked in between 11 AM and 3 PM and usually gotten a room immediately-waited once but went to the parks and didn't mind a bit.
The only time it was a hassle was when we went to VB and they didn't have the rooms ready and it was after 5:30 PM. It's not like you can go to the park and wait-it was just hours spent sitting in the lobby. Not a great start to the trip but it ended well. We will certainly go back.

We always arrive in Orlando between 10-11am depending on which flight we take. We have been members since 2004. If my memory serves me correct the following has been my experience:

OKW - 5 stays, 4 of 5 times room ready upon arrival at 11 am, 1 time around 4pm
BWV - 3 trips, 2 of 3 times room ready upon arrival around 11am, 1 time around 3pm
BCV - 1 trip, Rooms ready upon arrival around 11am
SSR - 2 stays - In room at 9pm and in room just after 11pm
WLV - 1 stay - Checked in at 11 am - In rooms around 1pm
AKL - Aug 09 - N/A

Our times have varied, depending on resort and villa size.

BWV (2br) - usually around 3 or 4, once it was 5:30 (4 trips).
BWV (studio) - except for once (that was 4pm), we got into our room when we arrived around 11am (4 trips).
BCV (studio) - arrived late afternoon and it was ready (1 trip).
OKW (2br) - arrived around 9am and had our choice of 3 locations (1 trip).

We have had horror stories getting into our room at OKW. I thought it was just the way things are, but after hearing people getting into their rooms early or on time I am wondering what's up.

For about 5 trips in a row we were arriving at the resort in the late morning and not getting into our room until after 5:00/5:30. This happened with studios, one bedrooms, two bedrooms, and three bedrooms. And we never request anything special.

It resulted in numerous letters of complaint (and I usually never complain about things) and personal phone calls and apologies from DVC. Because of all the complaints and apologies, the last time we checked in there was a note in our reservation to give us VIP treatment and make sure everything was 100% correct. Even with that, we waited until 5:00 to get into our room, and the only reason they let me in the room was because I called at 5:00 and complained to the manager on duty. He explained about the note in our reservation and told me they ordered a special cleaning of the unit, which resulted in, you guessed it, us not getting into our room until after 5:00. This has made check in day VERY stressful for us. I am hoping it has just been a streak of bad luck and it will end soon. We will find out in August when we will be checking in next.

You might have put the nail on the head. The other thing that I notice is that SSR seems to be prevalent in getting people late into their villas, and I wonder why that is ?

Personally, I've never made special requests. I've been happy with where I landed. However from this thread it seems that many of us are lucky to get our villas in a timely manner.
