What "theme" would you like to hear on American Idol?

I think an 80's episode would be fun! There are a lot of great song choices from that decade. Not that I'm biased or anything, having spent all of my college years in the mid-80's! I heard "Don't you Forget about Me" by Simple Minds the other day, and it made me think that Clay kind of looks like the lead singer. I'll bet he could do a decent job with that song, especially if he moved a little!

What themes do you think they should do on the show?

I would love to hear a medley of DISNEY TUNES... of course that wont happen since its FOX , BUT WOULDNT IT BE COOL? I think SIMON AND RANDY didnt like the disco..SIMON didnt like the country, so maybe an oldies special....

80's or Broadway would be great! I actually wish they'd drop the themes and just let the kids sing!

I think 80's would be great too.

I heard that Billy Joel may be a guest in the future and that they would all be performing his songs. I think that would be great - I love Billy Joel songs!

I was going to say Broadway, too, but after tonight's show, they're lucky if I watch at all any more!

I won't spoil anything for our West Coast viewers, but what a WASTE of an hour! Unbelievable! I feel foolish for even watching!

I wanna see Clay do a Ramones tune. Or maybe something from The Clash. See if there's any 'bad boy' in him!

I think they need to do more of "Today's" music. Maybe a little alternative, some R & B, Lite hip hop, things like that because they will need to compete in this era of music.

What if they each prepare a Mozart concert aria??? ;) Or how about some German lieder? Or an Italian art song??? Oh, I know, what about an aria from their favorite opera??? :p :p

I think it's crazy that they have to sing in a different theme every week. Do they really expect them to be able to do that? Think of your favorite singers..... how many of them cross over into 4-5 different genres??? It's insane. As a singer myself and a person with a degree in vocal performance I think they should just stick to whatever they do well.

Also, I don't think broadway would be a good choice. Not only would that require talent and skill but it would also require the ability to READ MUSIC.

Seriously, the whole show is a joke. Right off the top of my head I can easily name 100 people who sing better than any of those people. People who have invested their whole lives into studying music, taking voice lessons, performing, practicing, etc.......
