Now that's the Disney spirit!! I'm glad to hear that you're getting a little bit more excited about the trip. Regardless of the heat and the crowds...you will have a wonderful "magica" time! Now go and have fun!!

I would strongly suggest that while your DDs go to the Wonderland Tea, you take yourself to tea at the GF also. It is the most relaxing 1-2 hours I have ever experienced. It is possible to have enough to snack on for a light lunch. The society orchestra and pianist also played in the lobby during this time and it was wonderful listening to their music.
Also, attend an enight if they have one while you are there. It's a great way to beat the heat.

Rent "Lawrence of Arabia" and watch it the day before you leave. WDW will seem mild by comparison.

Watch out for Animal Kingdom (aka "The Sun's Anvil" ) and World Showcase.

No it's not, IMO. I lived in FL 3 years on 2 seperate occasions, in Port St. Lucie and Jacksonville. At least on the coast you get moving air from the sea breeze. Inland it's a stifling oppressive heat.

Some people have no choice when to go, others can deal with the heat, I fall into neither of those catagories - so our 1 - 3 trips per year are Nov - Mar.

Call me crazy, but, standing in lines and walking the parks in hot humid weather is not my idea of fun. I do have a/c at home, and anybody who makes regular trips to WDW can at least afford a window a/c unit for $150 - $400.

I agree, Steve. In spite of my previous advice, you won't catch me south of the 40th parallel during the summer if I have any choice about it. Give me Michigan or (better still) Seattle in the summer.

My brother is in the same boat, his wife is a teacher. He went for 12 days last Aug and is leaving next Fri for 8 nights. You do what you have to.

Don't worry. We have gone in the last week of August three times. Go early to the parks, take a break at your hotel about in early afternoon, eat lunch go to the pool, then go back to the parks in late afternoon. Hot? Yes, but manageable. There are a lot of air conditioned attractions at all of the parks.

We went the 1st week in August last year, and we're doing it again this year. Maybe we have amnesia or something. I do remember that I've been just as hot there in May. And we pretty much gave up on the parks in the afternoons. We were staying at BCV, so the afternoons we went to SAB, or the movies, and once to DQ. We've been enough that we're not too worried about time in the parks, and we still have fun. Diana

I agree. My DH told me last week that it was actually hotter here in MA than it was in Orlando I believe it...if it's not brutally cold here, it's brutally hot, LOL! OP, don't second-guess your trip planning...I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time in August

It's not so much the heat, but the humidity. We live in South Carolina and at the end of July last summer we went to Universal. First time we have been to Florida in the summer in about 10 years. It is not the same kind of heat that we have even here in South Carolina. Even in the morning you could break a sweat just walking. We won't be going in the summer again. But all you others have fun!!!

This past Monday was very hot....and I have to say CSR is not a very shady place...we walked around it and roasted! But I find the parks more manageable because there are always places to cool off, usually there is shade available. We didn't have park passes and agreed that we wished we did because the parks are shadier than most non-park activity options...we had wanted to rent watercraft or do mini golf, but the sun was too brutal.

Last July it was hotter in PA (our home then) than it was in WDW....this past Monday it was much hotter in WDW than its been here in SC recently. But even in the hottest FL weather I find the parks manageable if I have a hat to keep the sun off my face, light colored clothing, and lots of water.

Have fun! You were thinking that going to WDW is a lot of fun no matter what the weather!

Momtomootoo, I'm sure that you'll do fine. I'm a teacher, so summer is it for our family! Now, there IS one advantage to summer over fall/winter coming from the north. We only have to take shorts and t's, sandals (oh, and underwear! ) - NO long pants, no snowboots, no mittens under the seat, and no winter/spring coats for the drive down. Makes for less packing and more room for shopping! You'll have a great time, I'm sure. Me. . .I can hardly WAIT!
