Several years ago it snowed for the first time in almost a hundred years ago in Baghdad. My husband was there and sent me a picture that indeed hell had froze over.
Fast forward and the first email and picture I received yesterday and my husband is again not loving life and yes it is snowing where he is. I personally think he is the bad luck stone from those people.
The pictures of snow in Jerusalem are gorgeous.
Global Climate Change.
Ford family, most scientists today agree that we are in a period of climate change. Scientists don't look at single events, like the very rare and surprising snow in the Middle East, but rather, changing patterns such as the loction of the Gulf Stream, the frequency and intensity of storms, droughts, etc. The world's climate has changed nany times over the course of the centuries.
The real question isn't whether climate change exists, but whether this is a man-made phenomenon. And as that borders on political debate, I will refrain from offering my opinion on that.

So why not criticise the previous poster for writing "Global Climate Change" as a response to "a single event"? Not double standards, surely?
And my question stands unanswered; if some unexpected weather phenomenon occurs, for the first time in so many years, what set that activity in motion last time around and how or why does it differ from today's catalyst?

I don't think she was trying to be critical. Yes, these things happened hundreds of years ago. However, erratic weather is happening much more frequently.
I think this photo is a fake. The snow that stuck in Cairo was on the other side of the Nile, from what I have heard. No snow fell at the pyramids. There are several fakes circulating right now. One of them is from Vegas.![]()
