I got to eat at flame tree today for the first time in a couple of years. We have been eating at the new market, which we like, or we have been clearing out by lunch time. I was looking forward to it all day (since being up at 2 AM for our flight)! Now my wife said don't go cause our neighbor who is a regular like us said it wasn't good her last visit a few months ago. I said, no way. . . can't be. it used to be awesome! So I strolled over from Asia while my wife and kids ate at yak and yeti outside, got my ribs and walked back. Ate a few onion rings on the walk back. good as usual. thinking, my neighbor is going to be wrong. onion rings are fine. . . ya the ribs sucked like she said. i seriously think they were made a week ago and reheated. i can't even begin to tell you how dried out they were and not flavor at all. so upset. . . so very very upset. off the list. . .

oh on a side note 6 people in front of me on the dining plan got the mixed plate with everything on it. liked good. holy crap they had a lot of food. i have never seen so much food before. they had 4 full trays. lol i don't think i could eat all that food everyday on the meal plan.

but in closing. . . anyone else feel this way? has it not been as good? i really really used to like eating there! i should have just got my beef over the market like i have been doing! big enough to make fred flinstone happy! and i think it's pretty good!

not ranting, just upset and a little story to write while the family sleeps until jungle book tonight.

PS anyone try the pulled pork and grits yet in the stand going to asia from flame tree? that caught my eye. i love me some good grits! never had them till i came to florida one summer and every signature seemed to have them on their menu as an app all diff ways. i think i ate grits every meal that trip. i'm italian boy from the northeast so, lets just say my mom or grandmothers weren't making grits on sunday. lol i love em though!

Tried the pulled pork and grits a few weeks ago. Thought it was pretty tasty, and would get it again.

Not a fan since I'm 99% sure I got food poisoning there a few years ago.

Subjective. I rarely believe anything negative about wdw unless I see picture proof they were there.

I know food is so subjective. People are all over the place with what they like and don't like. It's glad to hear someone else thought it was good. Maybe I got stuff that was sitting around. Even though that should not be the case.

I will have to try the grits. Tonight we r at the yatchsman for dinner (one of our favs). I hope they have it in some form on the menu again as like last summer. This past winter they didn't.

I'm going back to the beef in the market this week at ak when we go back.

When I was there for the first time in May, I thought the ribs were very good. My issue was the terraced seating. I didn't find it very easy to walk down stairs with a full tray.

We just ate there June 19 and all meats were great including the ribs. I think all restaurants can be hit or miss sometimes. I had a great steak at BOG first time and then second time it was just okay.

Oh, man. It's one of my favorites and has always been good. Sorry to hear that your experience was not great and that it's off your list.

We ate there the beginning of May. Food was good, not great. We really liked the pork bbq. Service was terrible and chaotic. No one seemed to know what they were doing and it took a long time to get our correct food. Having to walk around from place to place with full trays of food to find an open table was annoying and frustrating. We ended up doing a good bit of walking around until we found a table. We were hungry, hot, and tired and just wanted to sit and eat. The positive side was that the view of ROL seating and Expedition Everest was beautiful.

Sorry to hear about your experience. It's always pretty disappointing to have to cross a tried & true off your list. I personally never really cared for the BBQ there the few times I've tried it. I really enjoy their Smoked Turkey Breast Sandwich though & onion rings. I've gotten that also several times & it's been consistently good. And I also love the relaxing view across the water of EE.

I haven't tried other QS options yet at AK like the Buffalo Chicken Waffle Slider (I know it's seasonal) from that kiosk which I believe is located in the path on the way into Dinoland or Harambe Market so FT will be on hold for me for while.

We ate there yesterday. Three people in our group had the ribs and they all said they were really good - not dry. Maybe you just got a bad batch. I will say that we had an early lunch (11:05), so maybe that made a difference...the ribs probably hadn't been sitting around very long.

Ate there Easter Sunday and got there just before it opened and were 2nd in line. We were on QSDP so got the combo platter thing and it was a TON of food. Everything was cooked well and had plenty of flavor, I just wasn't all that knocked out about the flavor. BBQ is one of those things that is very subjective, and if you're used to a certain region's BBQ, other types may disappoint. Up here in eastern NC, we're used to the vinegar based BBQ, so the sauces and spices on this were not my favorite. It was fine, and I ate until I was full, though that still left a ton of food on my plate.
It won't be a place I'll return to, but I felt like it's a good deal on the dining plan because you get so much food. I would have probably preferred Yak and Yeti's menu. That's not Flame Tree's fault though, just my personal taste.

We at there in early June, and it was my favorite QS of the trip. I had the 1/2 chicken platter. Granted, it was my first time eating there so I have nothing to compare it to!

If you think the ribs were bad wait till you see the jungle book

LOL!

Because I have seen so many people complain about pesky birds there, I won't even try Flame Tree even though the food sounds decent.

pulled pork and grits

They were a great late night snack after Jungle Book while I was watching night street entertainment.

We used to love Flame Tree. I always get the bbq chicken and it is usually really juicy and tasty. The last time we went it was late afternoon and the chicken was dry. I felt like it had been cooked earlier in the day and was sitting under a heating lamp for a while or something.

I was there at the end of April and it was delicious. I've been looking forward to eating it next weekend so I'm hoping it's a fluke.
