What Sunscreen Do You Use?

We used the Copertone Sport SPF 30 spray and it worked really well. The key to sunscreen is re-applying, and making sure you put it on at least 15 minutes BEFORE you go out in the sun.

As awesome as SPF 80 or 100 sounds, it actually doesn't do much more than SPF 30 or SPF 45. According to a spokesman for the American Academy of Dermatology, "an SPF 15 product blocks about 94% of UVB rays, an SPF 30 product blocks 97% of UVB rays, and an SPF 45 product blocks about 98% of rays. But after that it just get's silly." I used to think the higher SPF's were better until I heard that, so now I just stick with a 30 or 45 :thumbsup2

I'm super fair skinned, and with the spray I didn't get burned at all, and we went in late May/early June of last year. We did end up going through about 2 and a half bottles of the stuff between 2 of us, for about 9 days though. The only thing I didn't really like about the spray was that it did leave a bit of a weird film, which I only really noticed at the end of the day. But, when you spray it on, it's really cool on your skin so it felt kind of refreshing, and you don't need to rub it in, so that's nice.

For the face: Ocean Potion Clear Zinc Oxide SPF 45
For the body: Blue Lizard Sensitive Sun-cream SPF 30
For Touch ups: Ocean Potion Kids Continuous Spray SPF 50

We have VERY sensitive skin and most sprays and sun block lotion will cause a rash. Also we have very fair skin (with freckles). These all worked fantastic. You do have to work at rubbing in the Blue Lizard, but it is great!

We bought online, but I noticed that Walmart has the Ocean Potion stuff now. We used this last year and it was the first time we all managed to NOT get any sunburn or even pinking of the skin!!

I am glad this was posted. I am looking for a good spray that is not too sticky and definitely does not roll into little balls when you sweat. I think that was the Neutrogena dry spray that did that, it was awful:scared1:

Bull Frog sunscreen was recommended by my Dermatologist. I use the spray version and rub the oil into the skin. I use Aveeno Perfectly Ageless sunblock for my face. Both products work well for me. For Disney, I will have a sunhat and loose fitting, cotton shirts. We wear super thin shirts here.

Be sure to apply extra sunscreen to bottom of your neck/top of your chest. This area gets fried easily. Ditto for the tops of your feet if wearing sandals.

I use to use and love Bull Frog, but for some reason, the last few years, I've had a hard time finding it.

Aveeno for babies or Neutragena, the highest SPF I can find. I'm really pale. :)

I feel like the spray on stuff doesn't give me very good protection. Maybe I'm not using enough but I don't buy it any more.

never liked spray-ons...felt like never got enough coverage. Have always used Coppertone Water Babies (pink bottle). Used the one free of perfumes etc last year and hated it...never rubbed in. Back to using regular with spf 50 or higher. Apply at hotel in the morning before we leave then again at lunch. Got the target brand last year and seemed to work well, so might buy it again this year. We live in Florida and go thru lots of sunscreen. Besides the sunscreen, my kids wear hats and sunglasses and never tank tops...burnt shoulders and backs are never fun. :sad2:

Another vote for Blue Lizard. I know you asked for spray, but Blue Lizard is awesome. It is SPF 30+ (how it reads on the tube)..we have been using it for about 8-9 years and my kids have never had a sunburn with this..and they have very sensitive/fair skin. And it is soooo waterproof, when they go swimming they have water droplets all over..lol.

Walgreens and Walmart are where I find BullFrog. I checked the ingredients today and BullFrog spray has the same ingredients as the high-end Neutrogena spray. The regular Neutrogena spray has less of one ingredient than BullFrog.

After reading the all the posts, I can reassure you that the sprays work as well as the creams. You do need to rub in the spray just as you would the cream. Spraying one spot on your arm isn't going to evenly cover your arm. The sprays are so much easier for quickly covering 3 children. I don't miss any spots. I spray a tiny bit in my hand to apply to their noses and ears.

Be sure to carry your sunscreen with you and reapply. Please, do not forget your feet and throat area. I apply sunscreen to the kids and then rush when applying to myself and often forget those areas. Instant fried skin. :guilty:

Whatever is on sale! I had a Target coupon for $2 off Bull Frog, and there was a manufacturer's coupon attached to it when I went to pick it up, so I paid $1! It rocks that you can combine Target coupons and Manufacturer coupons.

Another vote for Neutrogena spray with helioplex. I have a son that due to medication is super sensitive to getting sunburned. This is the only sunscreen he uses. Very effective.
