Hi-I have not yet purchased but wondering what studios all book up right away, what ones you are usually ok to book 7-11mo out and which ones are usually open at the 7mo and less time frame.
I know time of year can vary but just in general what you have found at different times throughout the year.
Thanks!

GF and BCV studios are among the hardest to get in the 7 month window.
Edit - just followed the above link...very interesting-great info there.

There will be stress on availability of studios starting in 2021 and lasting at least 2 years due to the closure in 2020, and the subsequent banking of points by people affected by the closure and those unwilling or unable to travel in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Don't expect to be able to switch resorts at 7 months until at least 2023. If you're able to do so, consider yourself lucky.

Just always keep in mind that the hardest rooms to get is a AKV Jambo Club Level. At a mere 5 studios & 5 1-bdrms (all lock-offs), they are the unicorn of DVC. It is still possible to get a random night here or there, but they disappear faster than a Dole Whip in WDW.....in August....with 5 hungry kids.

Copper Creek studios are a challenge at 11 months. There is a lot of walking that goes on for the fall and December.

All studios are tough to get at 7 months out. But SSR would be last available. And some AKV, standard and savannah views, maybe. We own at BWV and CCV right now. Had also owned at OKW and AKV and HHI. OKW near HH go first but the other studios stick around a bit. Though end of Sept through January (marathon) is toughest time all over DVC. BWV....pool and garden view studios stick around longest. Even as an owner I have trouble booking the standard view studios. BW view is 2nd to go. CCV, we also had troble booking a studio. Had to walk to Xmas once then forgot to bump it one day and lost my spot. So wasn't able to get it.

Basically all the cheaper point studios and then the special views or club level....are toughest to get. There are many DVC owners who bought just 50-100 points since prices were so high. Then they need to bool cheapest point studios and cram families of 4-5 in them.

Yes I can see that- I have been checking the availability calendar prior to purchasing but know that now is not probably accurate of what is “normally” is. I don’t want to buy at blt to Not be able to get a studio at 11 mo.

Yeah gf was one I was considering but don’t want to have to stress about getting a room with the 11 mo window.

haha I would fit into that category of wanting a studio since it’s cheaper.
That is kind of what i was seeing that cc and bwv standard rooms were gone right away and that is what we would prefer. I want to base where we buy on a place we can actually get in at 11 mo.

BLT has a tremendous number of studios. I doubt there will be a problem getting one at 11 months, although there may some weeks of the year you'd have to book exactly at 11 months (The second week of December, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter) for the next couple of years.

11-Months Out:

The following studios have a potential issue (to varying degrees) of being unavailable when attempt is made at 8 a.m. eastern at 11-months out:

AKV club level and value studios: most of the year problem.

BLT standard view: about half the Fall season, and occasionally the rest of the year

BLT theme park view: some minor risk in some extremely high demand times such as first week of Dec.

BWV standard view: all of the high to extremely high demand season (late Sep to marathon weekend in January; hereinafter the "Fall season") and a large potion of the the rest of the year.

BWV boardwalk view: about 40% the Fall season and only once in a great while the rest of the year.

CCV regular and "shower" studios: still developing patterns but already a problem during substantial portion of the Fall season, and many parts of the rest of the year where it is continuously getting worse.

VGF standard and lake view studios: some risk and generally limited to the extremely high demand times during the Fall season such as first two weeks of Dec, Thanskgiving time, time around NYE, and the two race weekends (Wine & Dine in Nov, and Marathon weekend in Jan).

Aulani standard studios and hotel rooms: some risk and generally limited to times in month of of June and Christmas week.

Riviera: still in its infancy in showing extent of issue but already Tower and standard studios have a significant issue during the Fall season and occasionally the rest of the year; preferred studios have also shown a once-in-a-while problem during the Fall season.

Poly, BRV, OKW, SSR, HHI, VB and VGC have not had the issue, as well as BWV pool/garden view, BLT lake view, and AKV standard and savanna view. BCV only rarely -- has popped up at times for first week of Dec and NYE time but not even that for a few years.

As to seven months out:

VGC can be a problem year round.

HHI studios are often an issue during Easter weeks and much of April, also May starting shortly before Memorial Day weekend and going to right after Labor Day weekend and then occasionally at other times in the Fall.

VB studios sometimes have the issue during summer and holiday times, but the comparable inn rooms, at least standard view, are usually open year round.

Aulani standard view studios and hotel rooms are a year round problem. All other studios have an issue during the two highest demand times of the year -- about June 6 to July 6, and a little before Christmas to Jan 3. During the rest of the year, island/garden and pool/garden have a problem about 50% of the time (and often one is open while the other is not), while Ocean View is usually open.

During the Fall season at WDW, all studios have a 7-month issue to varying degrees. The easiest to get is SSR, except it can even fill before 7-months out for race weekends, first week of December, and time around Thanksgiving and NYE. Other than SSR, OKW and AKV Kidani (savanna view more so than standard) are more available than others, but still a risk of being full during extremely high demand times (middle two weeks of Oct, race weekends, last weekend of Food & Wine, Thanksgiving time, first two weeks of Dec, Dec 23 to Jan 2).

During the rest of the year at WDW, there are two weekends when everything has a risk of being full before 7 months out: Princess half marathon weekend in Feb, and the Star Wars race weekend in April. Otherwise, OKW (except at times the near Hospitality House studios), SSR, and Kidani are usually open although Kidani standard view can have an issue at times.

BWV standard and boardwalk view, AKV club level and value, VGF standard and lake view, Riviera Tower and standard studios, and CCV both regular and shower, are usually gone, although, particularly for BWV boardwalk view and VGF, you can sometimes find multiple days and even a week open during the lowest DVC demand times of the year: Feb 1 to the Thurs before Presidents' Day, Feb after the Princess weekend to about March 10, last week of April, and July 6 to 31.

BCV is full about 60% of the time and best chance to get one is during those lowest DVC demand times of the year. BRV and Jambo standard and savanna view (more so standard view) have an issue about 40% of the time, BLT theme park view about 30% of the time, BWV pool/garden view and BLT lake view have recently developed an issue about 10% of the time, and Riviera preferred view is starting to develop an issue, while Poly is usually open.

Ha...just noticed OP is asking for 11 months out and not 7.

AKV Club and value- day 1
BWV standard- day 1 then BW after a bit
CCV- day 1 from sept-Jan
RR tower- day 1
BCV after a bit from Sept-Jan
These are what I know. Not up on the MK resorts so much.

You will not have a problem in the 11 month window for any of the resorts. If you wait until 10 or 8 or 7 months then there is a problem. If you are a young family I would take either CCV, blt or gfv. Both offer changes in room size from studio to 3 beds, MK resorts, but CCV has the better point chart. BLT has the std view rooms which has similar points to CCV but you have to book those std. View rooms in the 11 month window. Blt studios are small. Gf rooms are beautiful but they are point hogs.

You do have trouble at 11 months 8am online for BWV standard and CCV studios...so buy there if that is where you want to stay. To at least have a slight edge. I own at both and am ready 1st thing at 11 month window online to hit submit right as clock strikes 8am and its a 50/50 crapshoot if I get it. No lie. But we do Sept to Jan trips.
