Some of the armoires in the rooms are quite small. Sometimes I feel like I can't fit all the stuff in them or end up rummaging through the drawers trying to find what I am looking for.

Then You need room for all the souvenirs that are purchased at the resorts and the world.

This trip is just dd (5) and myself. Is two suitcases each too much? We will be in WDW for ten days with stops before and after at Hilton Head.

How many outfits do you bring? Or do you just say, "whatever will fit into my 24" suitcase is what I will bring?" What size suitcases do most people use?

Well, we are 2 adults. I usually take enough clothes for the whole trip if it is under 10 days. Allowing that I will buy more T-shirts :)
This last trip we were there 14 days, so I took enough for about 8 and did laundry.
We packed an overnight bag put that in a 26" (room after you pull it for the return flight to put the "goodies" in the empty spot), and a 22".
No problem with fitting things in the armoire......one drawer for him, one for me and one for souvenirs. I think there was another too......probably more souvenirs in that one.
We were at POR.
There's also the hangers :-)
I also leave a lot of the little used things in a suitcase and when we get too many "goodies", I put them in the suitcase until time to do the "real" packing.

I basically do the "fill the suitcase" technique. Since your dd is young, you can probably fit 10 days worth of clothes in your bags. Just do laundry at HH right before you leave. I'd recommend taking a minimal amount of shoes, since those take up the most space. Also, take basic tops and bottoms that can be mixed and matched. That way if you spill something, you only have to change the messy article of clothing rather than the whole thing.

I packed enough for 10 days last time and found that I did the same thing there that I do at home--wear my favorite outfits time and again. I came home with clothes that I had never worn. Next time, I am taking enough for about 4 days, and doing laundry at the quiet pool. That's what I ended up doing last time anyway, and to tell the truth, it was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of WDW.
