What size should by 12x12 pages really be?

I started digi scrapping our recent disney trip. I formatted the pages to be 12x12 and when I uploaded them into the artscow photo book, the edges were cut off. SO when I go back to reformat them, what size should I make them?

I've Never Used Artscow But when I do My Digital layouts I set guides at about a 1/4" on each side as well as the center (since i do my layouts as 12x24) And then keep everything a little bit away from them just to be safe. It's no fun when the first letter in every sentence is cut off because I didn't pay attention to my Guides.

Did you know that in artscow if you click on the picture, an editing section opens above all of the pictures in the right column? When I make 8x8 pages, they are always too big. I have to press zoom out 3 or 4 times to get a good fit.
