What size are the coffee pots?

Does anyone happen to know what size the coffee pots in the rooms at AKL are? I am assuming they are 4 cup capacity and use standard filters as opposed to the cone type. I want to make sure we have everything we need to brew our morning coffee! The last 2 trips nearly killed us with that Nescafe! Yuck!

It is a 4 cup and uses standrad filters.

Good news... the Nescafe seems to be GONE! :sunny: We were at AKL and Disneyworld in mid-December and came armed with espresso coffee beans to get a decent caffeine high... lo, on checking into AKL we find that the coffee in the room with the pot (one decaf and one caf, packet makes a 4-cup) is NOT NESCAFE but real coffee. Not bad either.

Then at Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom we found real, very drinkable cappucino and espresso available at several locations.

Have a great trip. I know it'll be much better with good coffee. :wizard:

BTW, the coffee makers were 4-cup, regular non-cone filter shape.

I used the coffee pot at the AKL in December. I filled the carafe with water, and the coffee just filled two of the cups provided in the room. It tasted a lot better than Nescafe.

I bought a pack of 4-6 cup filters at Target yesterday for $1.29. I think there are 200 in the pack! :rotfl: So if anybody needs some filters, we'll have about 190 left over! (Or 180 if our friends need some filters. They are coming to AKL with us!) :teeth:

The pre-filled 4 cup packets they used to sell at Starbucks have been discontinued, so we will be bringing a bag of coffee and filters. We'll get bottled water at AKL and brew some decent coffee! :drinking1 I am still debating about buying a giant box of those plastic single serve half & half things at Sam's. We buy it by the quart at home, but those little ones don't require refrigeration. Of course we would put them in the fridge once we arrive, but better to not have to worry about keeping them cold.

It is good to know the coffee in the room isn't bad! We can use it as a back up if we run out of Starbucks.

DH and I got coffee from the kiosk just outside the gates of AK, and it wasn't Nescafe but it wasn't great, either! The cappucino I got at Epcot was so-so. Much better (and cheaper) to do it ourselves, I think!

Any one know if this its still true? Time sensitive, please help!

:cool1: 8 days &a wake up! TIA for the help.

No. They have changed the coffee pots in the hotel rooms to a Cuisinart version of the pod coffee maker (single cup at a time).

I'm just a bit confused. Are you talking about this?

I really appreciate the reply. Or is it a straight up K-Cup design? If all else fails, my Mom can just bring her 4 cup coffee maker. I think I'll have her do that.:coffee: If Disney thinks she only drinks a cup at a time, or that I won't want any, they've lost their minds. :sad2:

Not sure what it looks like, but it does not use K-cups. It uses pods, like the prefiltered pouches, only single cup size.

It looks similar to the picture, but can do two cups at one time.

Just fyi...... when we were at WDW last month we used the pod coffee maker exactly once. One sip and we threw it out. The coffee was absolutely disgusting!! Probably the most vile coffee I have ever had, and I spent 7 years drinking Air Force coffee that had sometimes been in the pot for several hours.

I would definitely suggest taking a small 4 cup coffee maker (and your own coffee and filters) with you if you can. Also, use bottled water for best results.

Wow...you better keep that opinion to yourself!! Otherwise, Uncle Sam might just switch brands to teach us all a lesson. :rotfl2:

We'll be driving so space isn't an issue. Thanks so much for this info! Definitely bringing a 4 cup & 2 gallons drinking water for starters.

7 days & a wake up!! I will definitely be putting together a trip report as I go! I'm so excited!!

I can totally agree the the opinion expressed - the new coffee is VILE. I took my own pods from Lidl, which whilst being slightly smaller were fine if you used less water (sorta makes sense really lol :rotfl2:)

We will be staying at AS Sports before going on DCL. I just bought DH a French Press Coffee Pot. It will be a permanent addition to our Disney Vacation Box.

Thanks all for the heads up on the coffee pots. DH likes his coffee by the pot-ful, not the cup-ful.

I'm here! Thought I'd add a pic of the AKL coffee pot.

If they don't show up, y'all will just have to wait until I get home. :confused3

I drank US Army coffee for better than two decades. While we all complained about the horrible taste, we always had our cup out. I can't drink that stuff Disney serves either. I bring my Keurig.

NEW WDW ROOM COFFEE COMING TO WDW RESORTS: (3/26/2012)

1) Resorts are converting to Cuisinart dual-cup "pod" coffee makers.
. . . the room is stocked with 2-reg & 2-decaf coffee pods and 2-teabags
. . . the coffee is 100% Arabica bean, very tasty
. . . eventually all resorts will have these during 2012
. . . some DVC rooms might remain with "Mr Coffee" style pots
. . . brews one cup at-a-time, or two cups side-by-side simultaneously
. . . brews 8-oz cup of coffee in less than 3 minutes
. . . illuminated power button and shuts off when water reservoir is empty
. . . separate water reservoir for each side
. . . one side can make coffee while other side does plain water for tea
. . . mugs are provided in room, but uses any standard size cup or mug
2) Each Cuisinart pod filter makes one cup of brew.
. . . decaffeinated and decaffeinated coffee pods are provided in each room
. . . maids will give more pods if asked, not just the two pods supplied
. . . teas bags are also in each room
. . . tea bags are Twinings Earl Grey Black and Twinings Green Tea
3) Pods:
. . . these are not k-cup pods/inserts, but are standard coffee "pods"
. . . they look much like tea a bag without a string, except, filled with coffee
. . . only one pod can be inserted at a time into each slide tray
. . . some people report being able to insert two pods for stronger coffee
. . . there are other pods that are available on the open market or Internet

NOTE: All non-DVC resorts are converting to these pod coffee makers.
As an example, Grand Floridian was converted in February, 2012.

NOTE2: We were told that the Cuisanart was selected due to both price and
the "pod" filters. With the pods, guests are less likely to take extra coffee packs
home, since they can't use them in typical home pots like Mr Coffee or Keurig.
This saves a lots of coffee money.

Only two cups a day? I wonder if they will sell the little coffee pods at the snack bar.
