What Singer or Group had only moderate success but you Loved them

Walker Hayes & Mitchell Tenpenny. Both had HUGE hits with one song but nothing else they released has had success commercially.

Your Vegas.

They opened for Duran Duran and I really enjoyed them live.

I saw a band called Stimulator open for Duran Duran - they were great too. I bought their CD. They had a couple more albums, but they never quite caught on. Duran Duran is one of my favorites too, but I'd hardly call them moderately successful.

I also loved Black Coffee in Bed
That's Paul Carrack (aka "The Man with the Golden Voice") on lead vocals. I think Tempted and Black Coffee in Bed had Elvis Costello singing backup.

And come to think of it, Elvis Costello is extremely influential but he's never really had that much chart success in the US.

My reaction when I looked up oinga boinga and got dead mans party. I didn’t know Elfman did much work outside of his collaborations with Tim Burton.

Danny worked with Oingo Boingo long before his composing career. He actually inherited the band from his brother Richard who got into directing movies. They are an amazing band though, with lots of horns and unusual instruments. He eventually gave up playing rock music because he wanted to preserve his hearing, so the band basically ended in 1995. He still collaborates with guitarist Steve Bartek from the band though.

I loved The Smithereens and thought they would hit it bigger than they eventually did. But they were a tight rock and roll band with a 60s-retro feel to them and they could really play.

(RIP Pat DiNizio.)

Pulling Mussels, Hourglass...Squeeze is GREAT!

My favorite band ever is Oingo Boingo with Danny Elfman - I don't know how big they ever were, but it seems like they weren't too huge, with only a few soundtrack hits. They are THE BEST!

Danny Elfman ended up retiring due to hearing damage. However, Oingo Boingo may not have charted high, but they did a lot of touring in between Danny Elfman composing scores.

Just to give people a taste of one of their best songs:

I have heard that! Probably around Halloween. They’re jammin though. 🙂 It kind of reminds me of my favorite Elfman song, the beetlejuice opening. New sounds joining in to build up to this manic ride of a song.

Most people are familiar with Tangerine Dream from movies like Risky Business.
