I've been spending so much time on the boards and I still don't know which show to attend. Can't do them all!!! I'm going with my mom (1st time since 1977) for a week!
I'm thinking La Nouba or HDD show. Also considering Arabian Nights or Medieval Times but as we will be on site with no car I'm thinking the transportation might be a problem!
Looking for advice.

I'd go with La Nouba..it's suppose to be fantastic. My neighbours just returned and said HDD wasn't worth it so I'm cancelling our reservation for March.

It all depends on what you like. DH and I love HDD, have probably done it 4 times. We thought La Nouba was ok but way overpriced and would not rush back.

If you have seen other Cirque de Soleil and you're a fan I would see it. If you like corny country western humour, sing alongs and home style cooking I would do HDD.

Thank you both for responding! Still have to think some more as they are different and both interesting in their own way...and still wondering about Medieval Times and Arabian Nights...

The only show I've seen at Disney was La Nouba so that's the only one I can comment on. I went to see it with my mom last summer and we both LOVED it! I was absolutely in awe of the show and its' performers. I highly recomend it!

We've gone to the Hoop de Doo many many times. I've lost count, but I'd say maybe 25 times. We love it. I suppose it depends on what you want. The HDD is corney. It appeals to children as well as adults. I remember taking a young 12 year old lad to WDW who had luekemia. He had fun, but rarely smiled. For days, I was trying to help him enjoy himself, but he was so reserved. Finally, we went to the HDD. About 10 minutes after the show started, he was actually laughing, and talked about it for the rest of our vacation. He died last year, and I feel so privileged to have been able to do that for him. I suppose it all depends what you are you looking for. Do you want to be entertained in a more formal setting, or laugh? I can see cirque de soliel on tv. I can only see HDD at WDW. By the way, the food at HDD is ok. Not great fine dining, but ok. We go to see the show.

Had to giggle at this thread, since it was just Saturday that DD13 was talking about the HDD. I think that we went when she was 6. She remembered being the centre table and the actors dancing and singing around us. A great time! I remember my 12 year old not being happy about going, but I have pics (and would remind him mercilessly) of how much FUN he was having! This is one show that I will do again in the future. :)

My DW and oldest daughter went to see La Nouba and they just loved that show my In laws went with them and and have been back to see it again since then and plan on going again this Nov for the 3rd time. HDD isa also supposed to be great but for showmanship etc I would probably reccomend La Nouba and it is Canadian after all LOL.

Hoop Dee Doo! Hoop Dee Doo! We're all going to the Hoop Dee Doo!

That's the theme song from the show. We absolutely love it. It is my favourite show, but then I consider myself a misplaced Tenneseeian. (Born and bred here in Canada though).

We were planning on going to it this year because our daughter will be 3 (which is why we haven't been for a few years), but we decided to do the Backyard BBQ instead. It works a bit better for kids because they don't have to sit for long periods of time.

That said, we saw a snippet of a Cirque performance once at Sea World and I told my DH don't ever take me to one of those shows. I'm not big into ballet and such ( I left Cats at the intermission) so it's not my cup of tea from what I can gather. I'd ask other people there impression of Cirque and then make up your own mind.

Thank you for your answers.
Think we'll go for Hoop Dee Doo! At least you have dinner with it which is pretty good for the price. Might still go to La Nouba but will advise once there!

I am a huge Cirque du Soleil fan. I have now seen 3 shows, and La Nouba was the best of the three. I am so happy that I went to this, as it was one of the highlights of the trip. I cannot begin to explain the amazing things that the performers do in this show. I will continue to see as many shows as I can.
Susan --Ontaria - just to let you know - the show in Sea World is not the same as any Cirque du soleil show. I was incredibly disappointed with the show in Sea World and thought that they were an embarrassment to Cirque. I actually couldn't believe how ridiculous it was.
Anyways, I have never been to HDD revue before, but you have all peaked my interest for my next trip. I wouldn't rule out CDS yet. It is an incredibly awesome show, but like I stated before, I am a huge fan.

We've been to Medieval Times, it was alot of fun. you are put into teams and cheer and boo your Knight...food was decent if I recall. We are going to do Cirque du Soleil this time, we've been dying to see it. HDD just wouldn't be my thing, lol...its all in what you like :)

Transportation to Medevil Times would be very hard as it is about 8 miles from WDW...Seems far out to me when we drive...

We did Arabian Nights on our honeymoon...It was just so-so and the food was horrible!!! Very bad Prime Rib...So bad even DH could not eat it or find the bright side of this meal...and trust me...DH can find the bright side in almost any situation...

I would do WDW things only as you will get better value for your $$$...

Have a great trip...

Have been to both and really it is like comparing apples and oranges because they are so different. La Nouba was breathtaking - my husband and two kids loved it also. A very unique show.

The HDD is a fave of ours also but for different reasons. Like someone said - it is cute but has that corny humour. It is really just a light comedy/variety show with audience partifipation and a dinner. In our opinion though the food is never worth it. Our kid

The Cirque du Soleil is mesmerizing! We bought our tickets to La Nouba once we got to Disney and we received a discount. Again, it depends on your taste, however, my Mom (at 64) loved La Nouba and thought it was so different!

Thank you all for your comments! I've definitely crossed out any entertainment outside WDW.
There are so many things to do and so little time to do them! As it will be my 1st visit (1977 doesn't count..I don't remember it), I decided to wait and see when we get there, what kind of mood we're in.
Thanks a lot! Anne-Marie
:goodvibes to you all!
