We are going to AKL for 8 nights, trying Jiko our first night and then Boma on our second night. Then, we will eat at our favorite at the end of the trip. What should we look for on the DINNER buffet at Boma. I've read about the chicken pepper soup and some kind of coconut soup (?). Please give me your favorites! Thanks:D

Zebra Domes!!! I like the chicken pepper soup and the ribs were also very good!

Bomas is a definite family favorite and a "must do" for every trip!!!

Boma had this great dish ~ it was avacodo/citrus salad with grapefruit, avacodos and some kind of dressing ~ it was incredible.

The other thing I really liked was little pineapple cheescakes and I had the BEST pina colada here at Boma :)

Enjoy,

Thanks.......all sound great. I'm making notes. Glad to hear about the pina colada....one of my fav. drinks! Another question to add, I guess......any other incredible drinks at AKL (pool bar, Victoria Falls, etc...)?:D

Can you tell I'm excited to go!!:Pinkbounc

Try a little of everything and go when you are starving. This is our favorite place to eat. I can't wait for Feb.

Our favorites from the Boma dinner buffet are:

Butternut Squash Soup
Ghana Roast Chicken Salad
Fork Tender Prime Rib (best at WDW according to DH)
Banana Leaf Wrapped Salmon
Zebra Domes
Simba Paw print Brownies

after you enjoy a delicious dinner you might want to make a PS for breakfast (don't miss the Sticky Buns, Cured Pork Loin,Frunch and pressed pots of Kenya AA)

Flank Steak (make sure you get some of the sauce to go on it)
Salmon with the coconut or peppers

Ginger Carrot soup
Flatbread w/ the olive spreads
Flank steak w/ ALL the sauces

I have to agree on that avocado salad. Very yummy.

As for soups, I loved the plaintain and corn stew. It was slightly sweet, with a bit of coconut in it. I liked the melange salad with apples, peppers, tomato, cucumber, onion with a citrus/mint dressing. The lentil kofta were interesting. They are balls of mashed lentils and spices all rolled in a crunchy nut coating. Lots of tasty entrees. I'm a dessert freak. I loved the passion fruit tarts, pineapple cashew tart, cocomisu, chocolate crunch and sweet potato bread pudding.

Thank you! It's funny, some of the things you all have mentioned, I wonder if I would have tried them without first hearing your reviews. The carrot-ginger soup, for instance. I love carrots, but don't know if I would have tried it while there.....now I will. I don't know how I will manage to try all those desserts! Ahhhhh, vacation........

You need to have an open mind at Boma's and not worry about what your trying, just try everything. That must be why I can't recommend anything, I don't know what anything is called. I have a PS in about 2 weeks and will take my time this time. It is one of the best restaurants at the World.

The kalamata olive hummus and flatbread was outstanding! I agree with the poster who said to just try everything. It was all good! There was a seafood soup of some kind when I was there in November-- it was really good! And of course, save room for dessert!!!

Erin :D
