Hello Mouseketters ::MinnieMo
I hate wearing short skirts, and a bit worried about how practical a long floaty skirt would be. What should I wear as I won't be used to the heat!

Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I don't think that they sell skorts in the UK - where could I get some from? ps I have terrible legs x Any other ideas princess:

I inherited my dad's short, heavy legs (but better that than his high blood pressure) and usually wear pants. However, due to skorts being discussed here, I tried some out and couldn't believe how well I liked them. Unfortunately, it did not turn me into Britney Spears (well, perhaps now that she's pregnant) below the waist, but my DH complimented me and I felt comfy ENOUGH to go out in public with them.

I've heard Kohl's and Penney's have them - perhaps you can check their web sites? I went out and bought all that WalMart had in my size...

You should be able to order skorts via the internet. I have worn long floaty type skirts to WDW before & only had to fight with them a little for low attraction vehicles like Space Mountain. Otherwise I had no problem at all with them. Many women who don't like their legs opt for Capris in the summer. I wear mostly shorts, even if I didn't like my legs, I'm going for comfort.

BTW - there is a whole thread here on the whole Skirt-Skort issue that may be helpful. Do a search for it. It should be on the first few pages. I saw it this morning.

I say wear the long floaty skirts. You will be more comfortable it's what is more "you". Will you have problems with some rides? Yes but it's nothing you can't handle holding your skirt off to side or whatnot. I had problem STICKING to everything in shorts because I never wear them and wished I had brought my capris and skirts because that's more me.

Unless you are going to Victoria and Albert's you don't need to wear any kind of skirt at all. You can wear lightweight capri pants or long shorts to the parks and most of the restaurants.

I agree Capris would be the most sensible if you do not want to wear shorts or skorts. With the FL heat a skirt would be a nightmare in my opinion. I am a person who normally will not leave the house without makeup on but when I am in WDW during the hot months I dont even bother I just pull my hair up and go...

I wear cropped trousers. there are lots around this season. i get the ones cropped at the knee and found them perfect. I wear a skirt on the days when im not planning on doing too many wild rides though

I was thinking the skirts would be fine and then I thought of one word: chafing!!! :earseek:

When the weather gets hot (yes, even here in Syracuse) I've occasionally worn skirts without stockings... but after a long day of work, I'd end up with blisters where my thighs rubbed together!

The answer to the chaffing problem is use deoderant on your thighs...it really works!

My daughter, also a Princess Laura Beth ,loves wearing long skirts, but the humidity in florida is not the best for this nor for getting on and off rides. Skorts or capris would be your best bet.

Don't forget your crown.....

I HATE wearing shorts because my body at 49 ain't what it was at 29! Old Navy has great bermuda shorts. They are to the knee and really comfy. I bought 4 pairs and plain on wearing them all while doing Disney.

:cool1:

Bev, thanks for the tip! I'd never heard of this one, so I'll definitely try it! :goodvibes

how about capris...i hate my legs also but they cover enough to make it look ok but bare enough to be cool. i wore them on warm days here ( gets 90) and hate the heat but i am comfortable. a nice breathable linen type or light cotten, also some denim...plus they can be dressed up easily with a nicer shirt for a nicer restaurant. did take a jean skirt but only wore it once since it was hard to get in oand out of some rides without showing even  more than my yucky legs!

I live in capris all summer here in FLorida, and use Loreal Sublime self-tanner on my legs. :goodvibes

NOTHING!! :rotfl2:

I will be wearing knee length hiking skirts to the world this June. made of supplex nylon (not cotton) light, airy, quick drying, cool. can't wait.
:woohoo:

LLBean has summerweight capri jeans. I just bought a pair. I think they will work great!

As an SCA member who often attends events in the hot, humid outdoors (wearing layers of 12th century clothing), I and many of my fellow SCA ladies wear some type of biking shorts underneath. I wear stretchy, form-fitting cotton/Lycra capris under my dresses, and have never again had chafing problems. They breathe just fine, and they have been a life saver for me!

I have heard that some folks use Bodyglide, and supposedly it also works well.
