What should I stock my studio with?

Hello all you DVC professionals! We will be renting points in Dec and even though there are quite a few different posts about things to bring, meals etc, and I've gotten wonderful advice from the person we are renting points from (if you're reading this you know who you are and THANK YOU!) I wanted to make one so I am sure to know where everything is listed in one place. So here is my question: What do I absolutely have to either pack, pick up with my grocery stop, or stock up on before getting to the resort (we will not have a car). What have you wished you;ve had, forgotten or swore you would bring next time?

We are two adults staying at BCV for five nights in a studio. We don't plan on cooking any actual meals in the room, but we will eat donuts, Nutrigrain bars, pop tarts etc for breakfasts. What types of snacks would you all recommend? Utensils? Paper goods? Refrig items? Anything else we should be sure to bring? Feel free to add things for bigger units for others too!

Thanks!

We like smoothies in the morning to get us going...so we bring a blender and all the fixins that we like. We also like bottle water, and various snacks. Just for notice, the utensils are plastic and the plates are paper.

Have a magical stay.

Definately bring your own sharp knife so that you'll have something decent with which to cut. For snacks, we bought a bunch of fresh fruit which traveled well into the parks. We also brought ind. packs of chips (the kind moms pack in kids lunches) You also need extra coffee filters. If I remember correctly, we only had 2.

Enjoy the units- so much better than a hotel room!!

Definitely bring the water. Coffee and filters. If you are big on coffee - the coffeemaker you get will be the small 4 cupper - you can request a 10 cup one from housekeeping - and a toaster - (at least we did at VWL) which works out great for poptarts, bagels, etc. We brought a plastic pitcher and softdrink mixes, EZ Mac for the microwave, some cereal, microwave popcorn and assorted snacks in individual sizes to tote to the parks. A collapseable cooler works great for a grocery stop.

Some great suggestions...definitely a knife! And maybe even some flatware and dishes that aren't paper....ugh, I hate plastic forks!

If you're a coffee drinker, bring your own coffee and filters. The coffee supplied just isn't very good. Also, bring your own coffee condiments (ie. creamer and sugar, if you use them. There's never enough of either!)

As far as snacks/refrigerated stuff...well, that's all personal preference. If I have donuts, I need milk. Ymmv. (oops, I no longer eat donuts.....gotta lower the triglycerides, ya know!) The smoothies are a great idea (as I still eat fruit...gee, getting off topic here...struggling a bit diet wise lately...sorry!).

Popcorn is a great microwave snack. My dh likes to get frozen stuff like pizza rolls and Jose Ole. We bring cases of drinks (soda, tea, water, etc...)

The biggest advantage of a studio is being able to bring a doggie bag back from the restaurants and have the leftovers as a late night snack or lunch the next day. A 1 or 2br is even better because you can just get take out and eat it off real plates in the room! Or at least with young kids that's a big advantage!

Have fun!

If you make a grocery stop buy cans or bottles of water and soda to pack off to the parks. You can justify the cost of a limo based on this savings alone. We usually pack some lemonade mix and coffee or tea fixin’s. Pack or buy nuts or snacks and whatever kind of beverages you like to sip on after a long day of Disney. Buy some cut up fruit for breakfast or snacking. And finally, we generally buy some deli meats with bread and condiments (or you can pick up condiments at DD or any local snack shop) or just Pbutter and jelly because after a few days of marathon eating, we like a break.

Thank you all so much for these great ideas! We also plan on doing alot of the doggie bag thing. Mmm pizza rolls-I never thought of that! Keep them coming!

No other suggestions other than what you already have here (coffee, filters, water, etc.) I did want to add, though, that we always bring way too many snacks, etc. thinking we will eat them, and we don't. So, think light!!!

Also, a reminder that any knives, forks, anything metal, etc. will definitely need to be packed in your check-in bags, and not your carry-ons.

Patabel, we generally have extra snacks too.....but we drive to WDW and back, so we then have lots of snacks for the drive home. Works out rather well!

One thing we've done is bring along ( or purchase at the grocery) crackers and baby bel cheese or one of the herb cheese spreads to go with drinks (mudslides are my fave) for when we've got late dinner and want something to tide us over. Also we can finish the leftovers (if any) on the plane on the way back (cheese and crackers only).

Definitely get water. You can request real dishes (at least we did at OKW last time we were in a studio)

As mentioned above a knife is a must and if flying you can no longer pack it in a carry on luggage. Also, the airlines have begun to x-ray all food packages--not the healthest thing to do.

As a matter of convenience a Braum hand mixer is great and packs well. Make sure to take the plastic cup Braum supplied because it facilities the mixing process. If you don't have a car and taking a limo from the airport check with them in advance some offer a half hour stop at Public's or other food store. If you make a list in advance at home you can save time on that stop. Bottled water is at the top of the list. A water bottle that sells for $. 75 in Seven eleven sells for $ 2.50 in the park. We buy plenty of fruit and chips for snacks. Enjoy!

We also brought some salt & pepper because we season everything and I added paper towels after our last trip, but can't remember if it was because we didn't have enough napkins and kept forgetting to save extras or what.

What grocery store in the area do you find the best prices at? Also, since the coffee maker is a 4-cup, does anyone know where I can buy those Pre-measured coffee and filters in one that the hotels usually provide? I am assuming the coffee maker in the 1br is also a 4 cup, is that right? Thanks.

I just wanted to also mention, bring EXTRA plates, I think they only start you out with FOUR paper plates.... We're going to be staying in a studio next weekend, so this thread is quite helpful for me as the planner!! But, I do remember from prior threads that you need extra plates

Bar soap and shampoo. I don't know about the rest of you but that little bitty bar just doesn't cut it for us. And one tiny bottle of shampoo isn't enough either.

We mostly buy breakfast foods and water. We tend to buy too much, but really don't want to buy those $2.50 bottles of water! Yikes!
