What should I request for std view BWV?

We've reserved a standard view 1 BR at BWV. For our past two trips, we've stayed in preferred view and BW view studios on the 5th floor (great views of Epcot and Illuminations!!). Is there a certain room, area, or floor we should request that would get us the best of the standard views? Are we destined to look at the parking lot? Any suggestions would be appreciated......or as a last resort we'll just ask for "near the elevator." Thanks!!

BTW--- One of the reasons we initially bought BWV was for the low std view points (and location, location, location, of course), but now we are pretty much hooked on that BW view.

Smoking vs non smoking and HC or not are my requests. I try not to have more than 2 if I can help it. The only time I can think of I go to 3 requests is if I have multiple rooms, I asks they be RELATIVELY close together such as the same building or next door at OKW, same floor and vicinity for the more hotel type arrangements.

If you are booked for a 1-bedroom, I suggest requesting the "corner" room - 2123, 3123 or 4123. It is a different layout with 3 sets of patio doors and a wraparound balcony. Here are pixs from our stay in 2123:

It's the yellow part:

When I book standard view, I request "non-smoking, top floor, across from the bus stop". Always got good Illuminations views. One time I did get 3123. The next time, I requested 3123 or 4123 (2123 is smoking), we ended up on the other end next to Jellyrolls (when the red building was there and they were assigning standard views there). So you may be better off with a general request rather than specific room numbers.

That brings us an interesting question. Since the number of standard view rooms should remain the same, I wonder it they have changed those room from SV to preferred. And if so, which rooms they changed to SV to balance it out.

I think they only used the rooms that now overlook the croquet lawn as standard view when the "real" standard view rooms were unavailable - due to the siding replacement.

Since the sales building (red building) is gone and the area is now very nicely landscaped with a view of the canal, I do not think a SV reservation will be placed there unless there is some problem with the "real" standard view rooms.

Thanks for the suggestions. The corner unit looks great. Is 5123 not available, or is it part of a 2 BR or GV? Also, awhile back someone had posted a link to a listing of all BWV units that members had stayed in, with comments as to distance from elevator and view. Does anyone have that link?

There are only 4 floors in that area. The 5th floor is only the first few rooms on the standard view side, then it drops down to 4 floors.

The first floor below 2123 is an exit, I think there is a studio next to it underneath the bedroom of 2123.

We stayed in 3121 (in the red section just behind the tree in the photo above). We were there in April and the tree wasn't leafed out fully and also had a great IllumiNations view. This is also a dedicated 1 br and the balcony stretches from br to living room. 3123 might be spiffier, but this standard view isn't bad! HTH

There is an extra 5th level on the yellow part (2123,3123 etc) but I think it's just roof access.

Wow! Dizz42! Great pics! The corner rooms Look BEAUTIFUL! :goodvibes

Does anyone else have any more pics of these rooms to share or your experience staying in one?

TIA! :)

I did ask for a corner room when staying last August hoping for a X123 room. However, the only one available was 2123 which is smoking, so we passed.

They put us in 4101 - I guess assuming a room that ended in 01 was a corner room. We actually had a view of a lovely leafing tree and not much else (circle drive). This was just fine because we aren't really hang out on the balcony kind of people anyway.

Good luck if you ask for a corner room. I wish it could have worked for us.

Since the advent of the Magical Express it might pay to request a room far from the elevators near the tennis courts. This way it won't keep you up at night listening to luggage carts being loaded and unloaded.

Tennis court views are good.

we stayed in a corner room, & OMG  !!
the HUGE balcony, ducks, view of PI fireworks, TOT (from the bdrm balcony) ~ absolutely stunning!
we liked the stairs being right near the room (kinda like our "private entry" ;) ). as i recall, the LR was much larger, but the bathroom (shower) smaller than other units.

Oh, these sound just fabulous! Hope I get lucky next week- :wizard: I have only stayed in 2 beds and a studio at the BWV's (HOME  ) so maybe my first stay in a 1 bed standard will be pixie dusted- :goodvibes

I did a search for these great rooms for more pics but didnt have any luck...

Anyone with more???? (please! :flower3: )

Just to set expectations, three stays at BWV, each time requested non-smoking, high floor.

First stay (boardwalk view), smoking, right above the screen door.
Second stay (standard view), non-smoking, first floor
Third stay (preferred view - hubby only, I wasn't there), non-smoking, second floor.

Now we just request non-smoking. The room pixies and BWV don't seem to like us in terms of getting requests met.

We did standard view 1 BDR in Oct. The only requests we made were non-smoking and a high floor. We got non-smoking and floor 4. We could see the main entrance. It really wasn't a "bad" view at all. I kind of liked watching the limos and Disney Cruise busses pulling up and seeing the people get out. You could see high fireworks from illuminations. My sons (and DH) missed boardwalk view, so for Dec we are booked in a 2 bdr boardwalk view. :)

just to give you some mental images~
look at those beautiful :cloud9: photos:
the first is the kitchen (note the full table with chairs:) ) with double doors to the balcony.
the 2nd photo shows the sofabed with another set of double doors behind it, leading to the balcony if you feel like moving furniture ;) .
& then the third shows ANOTHER set of double doors leading to..yup,
the SAME looooooooooong balcony!!! there are no dividers on the balcony (we had two sets of outdoor seating), & you can't see the opposite end from either end (cos it wraps around).
AND there is ANOTHER balcony (small) off the bdrm.

the shower & toilet areas are more of a standard resort room size, but we had the sofabed open and an aerobed inflated (our 2 kidlets wanted their own beds) & there was still tons of room in the L/r.
