I originally posted this on the Countdown Board because I am in the countdown, but I thought it might be better to be here (As the ticker says, one month and one week away :cheer2: ). I am still learning how all this works. :confused3

I need a little help. I am trying to think of things that I need for our October WDW trip. Since it is Labor Day weekend, a lot of summer items will be on sale. I don't want to forget anything, and I don't want to miss something because it is "out of season."

I have already bought the misting fan, and little hand held fans for my family. I know I need to get more sunscreen. I am checking on everyone's flip flops today. Just to make sure they still fit. Don't want blisters. :sad2: Just in case, I have already bought the blister band aids. :thumbsup2

Can you think of any other "seasonal" things I might need to pick up "on sale" this weekend?

I know you people know it all, and will be there to help me. :thumbsup2 :cool1: :cheer2:

Since I have an 8 month old and have not gone through all the seasons so I could be wrong but what about swim diapers, sun screen, water shoes, bathing suits. I just went to walmart yesterday for my september trip and got a nightlight for the room and a cheap laundry bag to keep dirty clothes away from clean clothes and YET NOT ALL OVER THE FLOOR :thumbsup2 OH another hard to find item would be swimmies or any other floating device that the kids may want or need for the pools. Curious to see what everyone else suggests!!!

Don't want blisters

I know this is a little off your original topic, but thought I would post anyway. Bath & Body Works has a foot lotion called "Shea It Isn't So" and it is FANTASTIC!!! I'll wash my feet in the morning and then put the lotion on before putting on clean, dry socks. After my afternoon break (swimming or just resting), I'll wash off my feet again, then apply some more lotion and a new pair of clean socks . Have done this on my last 3 trips and not 1 single blister, ever!! They also have a foot soak that is wonderful and feels great!!

I'd pick up t-shirts & shorts, but get them a size or 2 bigger than the kids. This way you should get use out of them this year and next.

Pick up sun block, water shoes (I like these better than flip-flops), sandles (again, try and get these a size or 2 larger than their current foot size) and, if necessary, bathing suites & beach towels. Oh, and swim goggles.

We already have water shoes in a bigger size, so we ought to be good on that one. I also bought t-shirts and shorts for the beginning of school already. I bought them big so that they can be worn next spring/summer.

I also forgot to mention the age of my kids. DS is 13 and DD is 8. It is her first trip. We are all very excited. :cheer2:

I also can't decide whether we need a backpack or just fanny packs or both. I found a neat waterproof video/digital camera case at WalMart yesterday. It carries both cameras in one bag. I thought I could put that in a backpack with some waters and snacks. I am just not sure about carrying the backpack around all day especially if it got wet. Then my back would be wet all day. :crazy2:

Any suggestions?

Leave the backpack at home -- take the fanny packs. There are much easier to carry, and each of the kids could wear their own.

You also might want to pick up a small bottle of hand sanitizer and some zip lock plastic bags (for wet things, or to keep things dry on rides where you might get wet)

Thanks. That would be great for the cell phones/walkie talkies, and those precious tickets! :) Also, the camera bag has a few pockets, and it is completely waterproof.

Hand Sanitizer is always a staple at my house. I am a preschool teacher, and I am always trying to keep from catching things from all the kiddos. :rotfl:

Thanks for the tips! Keep them coming. :thumbsup2

Thanks for posting this, I will remember that for when we go!

It sounds like you have the basics down. I take sancks along. Lots of fruit snacks, granola bars, pop tarts, etc. Lots of individual wrapped things like that. for freakfast we eat that stuff in the room oor on the monorail. I didn't brink enough last year.

I barry a backpack with not a ton of stuff but some. I havbe a small tupperware holder of asprin, and sudafed. I also have a baggie of a few band-aids and neosporin. I travel very lite but I have used thosse things.

I am trying to make my list now... lol... so much to think of to pack.. I am going to the MNSSHP and I have to pack my costume.. But I am not sure what to be... :confused3

Well I was at Wal Mart again today. I found a good sized clear plastic backpack. It seems like a good option for keeping everything waterproof. I am wanting to take water bottles with us since we aren't on the dining plan. :sad2: I figure that it could take on Kali River Rapids, and the contents would remain dry since it is plastic not nylon. :) I may put it in a locker, and then carry the fanny pack with me all day.

I don't know. I just can't make up my mind. :confused3

I could always return it, and get my money back. More money for Disney! :rotfl:

I haven't made it to HD yet. I might go after work for a LGMPC swiping session. :tiptoe:

As unattractive as it is, I put everything in a fanny pack when we go to WDW. It holds the camera, cell phone, small first aid kit (including aspirin), contact drops for DD, tickets, small change purse for money, chapstick, small bottle of sunscreen for touch-ups and a few small snacks. It's also small enough to fit on every ride, so that I don't have to worry.

The only time I carry a backpack is at AK for Kali River Rapids for our ponchos...on a hot, humid Sept day, you don't want to be walking around AK wet...learned this from DH. I make sure to bring large baggies to put the ponchos in after we're done riding, so everything else doesn't get wet.

The only other thing that I recommend, is if you have small children, to bring an inexpensive nightlight for trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Even now, this is helpful and no one has to turn on the bright lights and blind themselves. Then I just leave it at the hotel.

Enjoy.
