I know which clothing items I need, but are there any essentials, that I may not be thinking of when packing for the trip that I really should not forget?

I think you will find many threads that deal exactly with this subject.

For all trips I take a

Basic first aid kit (tylenol, bandaids, tweezers, clippers, tums, dramamine, safety pins, small sewing kit, etc)
Power strip for charging phones, camera batteries, etc
Walking Shoes that are broken in
Sunscreen
Umbrella/ponchos - something for rainy weather
Cross-chest purse (or fannypack) ... just something to keep ID, tickets, etc where you know where it is and won't need to be "set down" and forgotten
Small backpack
Camera
Hat
Sunglasses
Paperwork including receipts, reservation info, itinerary, etc.
MONEY (including small bills) and credit cards
Go through wallet and leave all unnecessary papers/cards at home (library card, etc); photocopy what you are taking and leave a copy at home and take a copy with you, storing separately from originals
Key in your cell phone all important phone numbers: Doctor, dentist, CC company, bank, etc
If you are renting a car, take a copy of your auto proof of insurance

If you are flying, take a picture of any checked luggage.
If you have small children, take a picture of them each morning with the camera (probably wouldn't ever need this, but, hey, good idea if they ever wandered off and you needed to remember what they were wearing, right?)

Well, this is a start ... but just run through a typical day in your mind and put items down on paper.

I never thought of taking a picture of my luggage. Great idea!
We always take pictures of the kids right outside the hotel room door before we start the day. The girls (who are older now) still line up for their "mug shot" before we go anywhere on vacation. Went with grandma and grandpa on an overnight trip and wouldn't start the day until they had their photo taken.

Along those same lines - if you use PhotoPass make sure to take a picture of the number in case it gets lost. We also take a picture of where we park the car at the airport in case we forget the floor or area.

a "vacation" wallet. Rather than taking what I don't need out of my everyday wallet, I put what I DO need in the "vacation" wallet. And I love taking it out cuz I know I'm going to WDW!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

we pack to try to keep it simple because we don't want to be carrying a ton of stuff around the parks. things like i always include are things like hand sanitizer, the real thin/cheap rain ponchos (less hot in summer less bulky in bag).

Pack lots and lots of money.......:rotfl:

Gum. You can't find it anywhere in the world. Just make sure to dispose of properly. :thumbsup2

I have one of those too :)

I like taking ziploc bags for storing items. I used them mainly last trip to hold a frozen washcloth. I brought some extra with us. I got them wet, rung them out and stuck them in the fridge that was in there. Every break time, I would swap out the "old" one with a new one.

Bandaids, body glide, batteries with extra SD cards (we went through 2 cards at 4GB each! :scared1:), charger, battery charge (had rechargeable batteries too), extra clothes, Tide single use for laundry, roll of quarters, sunscreen, frebreeze, Shout single use (for the oops! from food or whatever), ponchos (we never used ours, still have them!), index cards that had our ADR's & touring plans that were laminated.

I like the room freshener idea- I'm going to have to do that! Oh and the cup lid for ice cream! May not have to bring the Shout this next go round! haha
