I am an ed assistant in a first grade classroom....we have 18 students total. What can I bring back for them that won't break the bank? I am thinking maybe getting them a little something individual, and then maybe one bigger thing for the classroom, like a stuffed animal or poster or ???

Any ideas? Specifics and stores would be greatly appreciated since I hope to not spend TOO much time shopping..... Not that I mind shopping....;)

I'm a K teacher, and I brought back those Mickey Head lollipops that come in packs of 5, different colors. Inexpensive and cool-looking-- the kids thought they were so special! They're all over the place there, but I especially noticed them at some of the souvenir carts inside the castle courtyard.

Another big hit was postcards. :thumbsup2

I was going to say some sort of candy...you can get packs of stuff!!!

Or stickers!! Kids love stickers...and hey get them at michaels before you go...no onw will know!!! :)

While probably the cheapest at Disney, we tried to avoid candy or food items for gifts for my daughter's class.

Couple of things we got at different times
Big Pencils
Disney Bookmarks
Rolls of stickers
Pens (they come in packs of 6 or 10 and you can break apart)

You could also, ask CM in the WOD store for a bunch of the Mickey stickers they give away.

Postcards are a really good idea. That way you can get the same kind for everyone, and what child wouldn't enjoy a Disneyland postcard. I was gonna suggest the pressed pennies because I love them.

I brought back Disney pencils for my 1st graders last year. I found packages of 10 for 5.99.

Book-marks could probably be easily made right in your own school workroom. Print 8 on a sheet of card stock with the kids' names (custom touch!) and laminate, cut, hole punch, yarn! DONE and each kid gets something from your vacation (shhhh!) with thier name on it. Get clip art online for the book markers. You can find some really cool Disney stuff out there.

I did just this as well. Worked awesome. Everyone loved them. I recommend the Mickey shaped lollipops too!

You might try (if you have the time) to go to the Disney outlet. I was able to get mouse ears once for 99c each. Made fun party favors for the kids

These are all great ideas, thanks everyone!!

I like the lollipop idea, and the postcards are a great touch too! I'll keep an eye out for pencils, for some reason first graders are NUTS about new pencils.....

If I find things that are budget-minded enough, maybe my boys can bring home things for their classmates too! :thumbsup2

We love the Dollar Store on Chapman and S. Harbor. It's located next door to Target, across the street from the Crowne Plaza hotel.

They sell an aisle full of Disney-themed stuff, like pencil sets, pens, pencil cases, notebooks of all different kinds, rulers, erasers, etc. Last time I was there, they had the Princesses, Disney Fairies, Cars, Toy Story characters, Tinkerbell, Winnie the Pooh and Friends. Everything there is $1. For that price, I let my DDs go crazy on whatever they wanted to bring home to their friends.

We're arriving in Anaheim on March 13, not too far behind you!!!

When I went to WDW last November, I got my third graders postcards, which they really really loved!! And still use as bookmarks :thumbsup2 I've also gotten them pencils in the past- and agree that's a big hit with first graders. Either way it's pretty inexpensive, and they LOVE that you brought them a "gift" from such a special place! How awesome you are thinking of them while on vacation.

Awesome suggestion! We'll be staying at the CP on our next trip ($45/night through Priceline), so we'll have to take the kids to the Dollar Store. They'll love it!

I would say no to the lollipops. My ds does not react favorably to artificial dyes, but it's so hard to say no when someone gives him candy. I just think it's a bad idea to give kids candy all around.

I like the pen/pencil idea.

What about a pressed pennie for each? You could get a roll of 2009 pennies and take them with you? That way it is dated with the year that they received it.

You can buy full size bags of Mickey head pretzels for about $2.50 a bag or small individual size bags for about $.79. They're great if you don't want the kids jacked up on sugar.:thumbsup2

If you can get to the Character Warehouse in Fullerton, they might have several cheap items. We were able to get nice keychains for cheap one year to send to family. I like the pressed penny idea, too. At the small gift shop at the DLH, I got some postcards in a pack of 10? that were color your own. You could get a few packs to take back, separate them, and use them for art. That's what I got to use for some art for my kids.

That's what we brought home for my sons preschool class last year. I'm thinking about having my son send the class a postcard next week while we're gone.
