What should I eat at Coral Reef?

MMMM! Pan-seared catch of the day over mushroom risotto sounds really good! Now the creme brulee sounds awesome too!

If I could make an entree out of the land and see appy, I would in a heartbeat. It was one of the best things I have eaten at WDW!

Can you definitely not do that on the DDP? I saw that pic in someone's report and was thinking it was an entree (which surprised me because I'd looked at the menu and nothing had jumped out at me) until I looked it up. I was wondering if they'd let you substitute and just get it as an entree if you wanted.

Thanks everyone for all this info - we're considering this one for our next trip and I think the Mousse is a must-do but am less excited about the entree choices!

I had the NY Strip. It wasn't bad, kind of small and nowhere in the league of Le Cellier. My brother had the lasgana "thing", also very small and he said it was merely okay. DW had the chicken, again good but nothing spectacualr. Yes, we are not seafood eaters. But my son loves fish (to look at - not eat), so we booked it for view/environment.

DH loves the Mahi Mahi..more for the jasmine-cashew rice that comes with it...but he loves that dish. I had the Lobster Ravioli and they were excellent. I also LOVE the lobster soup...yup...better than the cheddar cheese soup at LeCellier... :duck:

Any of you who've been know if they have ice tea there? I notice on my menus it lists sodas but not ice tea, but am assuming most TS restaurants have to have it?

We ate there last week and yes, they have iced tea. It was very good.

I had the scallops which were good but I didn't like the tomato base they were in. DH had the strip steak which he said was just ok. Our friend had the catch of the day which was grouper and said it was good. Best part was dessert - we got the Wave and the Jack Daniels dessert. YUM!!

three words: creamy lobster soup

You could leave me, that pot of soup, and a spoon alone, and I'd be happy.

Thanks for the info on the tea! :thumbsup2

Now could someone tell me exactly what the chocolate wave IS? I've looked at every menu I can find and some pics - just looks like a chocolate cake to me? Anywhere to get an actual description?

Thanks! I know if we go I have to try the Bailey's & JD Mousse, but DH isn't a huge Mousse fan so I'm thinking I can convince him to try the Wave instead! And of course he'll need to share, right?! :rotfl:

LOL I was thinking along the same lines...

My wife loves chocolate so I'll have her order the chocolate wave (and I'll steal some of course ;) ) and I'll order the Bailey's & JD Mousse :thumbsup2

we ate there for the first time in August and had a wonderful meal! we actually asked if they would blacken the mahi mahi instead of how it comes on the menu, and they did - it was delicious!!

Good to hear because I love blackened seasoning.

I have never had the nerve to order fish at the Coral Reef while watching their relatives swim right by me! I have had good luck with the steak. (but nothing beats the steak at le Celier in my opinion!)

Thanks for the help all! I had great meals at Coral Reef and Le Cellier! Best food I've ever had in WDW!

Ill go to Le Cellier too so I thought I ordered fish from the reef. Mahi Mahi mousse sounds good Ill try that too! .

We were there last month and all our meals were delicious. DH is picky about his steak, and he really enjoyed it. DDs had the pork and it was yummy. I had the pan seared catch of the day (sea bass) and it was very good. I also enjoyed the risotto, and it was scallop risotto.

Yes, I had the sea bass too! It was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It came with a mushroom risotto.
