going to florida in 3 weeks and am about to buy tickets online before we go.now ive got twin girls 7 years old and a 3 year old boy.in fact he was 3 on boxing day so only just turned so was wondering whether to buy him tickets or just say he is under 3.im not a cheapskate and im sure ill have plenty of people preaching now:headache: but id prefer to spend that money on other things for the family.as im spendin over a grand on tickets anyway i think im giving my fair share to orlando.what are your experiences guys?we will be taking a buggy with us so he will be entering the park in that if that helps and hes average size for his age

I am sure you will get plenty of replies this is a very emotive subject.
I have always paid for the kids when they were over three.
As with a lot of things in this life it's all OK until something goes wrong.
Not that I would wish it, but if you have a problem in the parks, for instance a medical emergency, how would you feel explaining that your son/daughter doesn't have a ticket?

I would recommend getting a ticket.

I would also buy a ticket - he is 3 already.

Buy him a ticket he is already 3. Just think if a cast member came up to him and said as I have heard, Hey you are getting a big boy/girl how old are you??? Your child will tell the truth I am sure.

By your post, it sounds like you have already made up your mind, but looking for others to agree with you. It sounds that way because you add the words "preach" along with: :headache: and you justify your actions by reminding folk you are giving your "fair" share to Orlando.

If your twin girls ask does your 3yo need a ticket, what do you say to them? Its either lie to them, or admit you are lying to Disney/whoever you get the tickets from. Either way, its setting a bad example.

I could have gotten away with not paying for my child when he was three, but didn't.

Several years ago we were in the same situation DD turned 3 at the end of Oct and we went right at the beginning of Dec. We bought her a ticket. We felt that it was more important to teach our DD's about honesty and not lying rather than have extra money by cheating. In addition DD was very proud of the fact that she was 3 and we did not want to have to lie and say that she was only two, if she was aked, which CMs sometimes do. So IMHO you should buy at ticket, but at the end of the day you have to do what you think is right for your family! :goodvibes

If my dd was asked how old she was when she was 3 they would be no way that she would say she was 2, she was very proud of the fact that she was 3and a big girl.I would also never encourge my DD to lie.

Me too.

My DD is only just 10 but I have to pay an adult ticket and adult's prices for meals for her. I prefer to be honest and teach her to be that way too. :goodvibes

Do people put these post here on purpose, like bait? to get a recation, as from the first post its likely that they knew there reception!

we are getting erin a ticket as shes 3 in oct as we go in jan

we also buy jordan an adult ticket, shes actually 14 but isnt any bigger or looks any older than a 5 year old, plus she can not speak to say her age, but she still goes as an adult

i wanted everyones opinions, plain and simple.like i said in my post i knew there would be some that would shudder at the thought that i should lie to disney.to be honest all i really want to know is if i would be able to get away with it.ill make my own judgements whether its right or wrong.thanks for all the replies.

Personally I would pay but can understand your thinking. I do tend to pay for what I have to pay for and do begrudge having to pay adult prices for the kids since they were 9. However, Disney and Universal are perfectly in their right to ask for ID when you enter the park, though I doubt they would bother with the kids, it is printed on the back of the tickets.

I would personally hate the thought of getting to one of the parks and then being turned back because I didn't have a ticket especially at Magic because it takes that long to get there anyway!:)

I don't think it is about lying to Disney, but teaching a 3 year old that it is okay to lie.

Though it is worth mentioning that it is very unlikely that a child that has just turned 3 will lie and say they are 2 anyway, even if you tell them too.

I would buy a ticket for many reasons

1) It is wrong if you dont. As you mentioned you will make your own judgement on that :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

2) You will not be able to get fast passes for your child on certain rides. Just because the CM at the entrance belived they were under 3, whats to say a ride attendant will :confused3

3) Just because you got in on one day what is to say you will get in for free the next.

We fly out on 22nd January and our DS will be 3 on the 1st of Feb while we are out there, the parks we are doing before his birthday i won't buy him tickets and the one's we do after i will buy him a ticket, i couldn't not and when i went in 2002 my Mum who will talk to anyone got chatting to this family and asked the child how old she was, the little girl replied 2 and a half on holiday but i'm 3 at home, took us a while to work out but that's obviously what her family had told her if anybody asks on holiday your 2 and a half, even though it's wrong it did make us smile but kids are always honest!

I have heard CMs ask children their age in a joking way! So even though they may not check ID, if they ask your DD how old she is and she says 3 IMHO it would be pretty embarassing!
