I would send a nice wedding card with a nice note. No gift is needed, and probably the bride doesn't expect one.
My cousin is getting married in October, and while we're not close now, we used to be as kids. She couldn't make my wedding because she was stationed on a Navy ship, but she sent me an email congratulating me. That was nice.
