What should babies first ride be?

My son's first ride was Nemo, but he was only 3 weeks old. It's still a family favorite, esp because it lands in the aquarium where he can wander.

He is scared of Figment and won't ride it right now.

Dumbo was his favorite as a young toddler (16-20 months or so) but he always cried when it stopped :( It's still a must ride and thankfully, he doesn't cry anymore. He's 2.5.

When my cousins went to Disneyland for the first time my oldest cousin was a baby and the first ride he went on was Star Tours and how it worked was my uncle had to hold my cousin on his lap while my aunt sat with my cousins in the seats across from my uncle. And my cousin had no problem whatsoever. If you happen to ride Star Tours at Hollywood Studios with your baby you can always let your husband sit your baby on his lap and your baby should handle Star Tours with no problems

My baby’s first ride was Spaceship Earth when he was three weeks old, haha. I think his first ride at MK was Little Mermaid. He is 2 now and LOVES Nemo, so I think that would be a good first ride for you. Plus, when it’s done you can go see the fish.

If she is new to rides, don’t do anything super long. Especially at 17 months. Small World became an issue for us around that age; he got way too antsy. He loved the Tiki Room though. We sat in the back and he stood the entire time and just looked around, mesmerized.

Wait, they let a baby go on Star Tours? It has a 40 inch height requirement.

Ya I definitely want something shorter in time since idk how she’ll be on the ride. Spaceship earth seems like a long one to test out immediately although it’s slow moving so probably wouldnt phase her

Our ds can’t sit for spaceship earth. We did it once and never again lol. It’s long enough as it is but then you get the ride stoppages (which we get basically every time).

She loves the movie frozen but idk how she’d handle the drop lol

i was thinking Nemo would be good since you’re just sitting in the shell

Yikes that’s not good. Does your baby like swings? I’m wondering if that ride is similar to the feeling with flying through the air

Oh she loved the swing in the park at home, but not dumbo. I think it was the heights, because even if you don't touch the knob, the elephant still goes pretty high (or i had a rogue elephant that just did what it wanted, we weren't steering, it took 2 of us to peel her back from the side)

I hope someone with direct DAS experience can answer, but my impression is that DAS is for whatever reasonable accommodation is needed. Not just line stuff. I feel like wanting it for Rider Swap on someone older/taller than usual is perfectly within DAS purview.

Just what I was going to say.
Star Tours has a 40 inch height requirement and each person has to sit in their own seat.

I also think the poster may not have been actually remembering Star Tours since the post says the aunt and cousins sat across from the uncle and baby. All the seats in Star Tours face the same direction, so it’s not possible to sit across

Grand fiesta Tour in the Mexico Pavillion at Epcot. If you go to MK, then Small World or Pooh. I would not do Nemo first-- when DD was little she was scared of it- it was really darkin parts and those anglerfish that pop out at you scared the heck out of her. Also, maybe not Dumbo first--- that is what I absolutely planned to do on DD's first trip when she was 2. We got there to get in line and she pointed up and said "I not ride him". We didn't find out until much later she was scared of heights. At 2, we had a Grand Fiesta Tour cut off of 5 times in a row- she would have ridden it in circles all day. She also hated when it was time to get off Small World. Another good one at Epcot was Living with the Land-- not sure why, but almost all the kids we know loved that one when they were 2-- something about the boat and greenhouses I guess.

Thank you for the tips! My baby gets scared by such random stuff (the dancing in the movie singing in the rain lol) and then stuff that I’d think would be scary she’s fine with
