What Shoes For Younger Kids?

My daughter will be 5 on our trip next year and I'm wondering what everyone likes for comfortable kid's shoes? How do you break in newer shoes enough before the trip for the kids who are constantly going up in size? What kind of shoes do the girl's in the princess dresses wear? (because the plastic princess shoes definitely won't cut it.)

DD was 5 on our first family trip. She wore her Disney princess tennis shoes most of the time. They were the ones she wore everyday to daycare, so they were broken in. She wore them with all of her princess dresses except one. They do look kind of funny in the CRT picture, but that dress & the shoes were both pink & I wasn't toting around another pair of shoes as well as the dress all day in my backpack! When we did 1900 PF dinner, we were staying at CR & the dinner was at GF. She wore white sandals with the Cinderella dress that night. After dinner, we went back to the room & changed her clothes & she got back into her tennis shoes. She wore Tevas the first night of our trip, but we were only in the park for a couple of hours. I go for comfort over fashion when we're going to be walking a lot.

We stuck with shoes they wore regularly (mostly Converse). They have them in a bunch of colors so we just matched color to outfit as we do on a regular daily basis. Worse case scenario, you can just crop pics so the feet are not showing if shoes don't match.

I never had one complaint from either of my girls. That being said I did have a double stroller so there walking was minimized.

Broken in sneakers are best. I pack two pairs in case one gets wet. For the princess outfits, my DD wore white rubber soles sandals. Then I would bring a pair of sneaks and socks to the parks so when she needed to change out of them to be more comfy, or when the meal or meet and greet were over, she could

We like Keene's sandals. They offer lots of support and a closed toe. The are also quick drying when wet. They are our pick for theme parks to avoid that gross wet sock, squishy tennis shoe sensation that can result after a water ride or splashing through a water area.

Totally agree- Keene's sandals are a staple in our home in the summer. Closed toed and drys quickly. My husband wears them too. We have boys so we just get brown or navy usually but there are a lot of great color options out there.

My girls always wear their sneakers in the parks, even with their pretty princess dresses. It may look a little silly, but they're comfortable and I don't run the risk of them getting blisters or sore feet and then whining that they can't walk!

I can't say from personal experience but I know my nephew, who is 4 and has wide feet, wears keene's without a problem.

my kids are 5 and usually wear Crocs. I'm not actually a huge fan of them, but they are great for the parks because they can get wet. My kids will also wear sneakers. They always want to wear flip-flops, but I usually say no (mean mom, I know)! LOL

I probably bring WAAAAY too many shoes for my kids on vacation, but that's half the fun! Also, it's better for their feet to mix it up!
