i completed my firt ebay auction 2 weeks ago and it went really well......pitching machine, gameboy games, etc. I was very excited. So excited I am afraid I am addicted to selling on ebay.

I started a second auction with some really nice baseball bats but they didn't sell.

So, what sells really well?

What sells? Everything? I am a long time e-bayer and let me tell you everything sells. There have been times when I have listed an item twice and had no buyers, then the third time a bidding war starts and you end up getting much more than you ever thought you would. I had one item that did not sell twice for $25 and on the third listing I got over $125. You just have to hope you the right person is buying when you are selling.

To prove that anything sells on e-bay do a search on used socks (yes-used socks) people not only sell them but they buy them.

I have heard that "used socks" are a front for selling something else. But I haven't quite figured out what yet, but I believe it is illegal. My guess is either drugs or something XXX.

Very valuable and rare antiques sell very well on Ebay. Below-wholesale-cost new electronics also sell very well on Ebay. There are lots and lots of things that sell well on Ebay.

For most of us, though, the question REALLY is "What sells well on Ebay that I can find at a reasonable price and sell at a reasonable profit?" Answering that question takes a lot of time and research. You can start by figuring out what type of merchandise you are interested in--since you will be spending a lot of time finding and selling merchandise, and will need to educate yourself about the merchandise, it will help tremendously if you sell something you are interested in.

Next, look up merchandise in your area of interest on Ebay and see what sells and what doesn't. Then, find out how you can obtain the merchandise you want to sell. For some people, this will mean finding a wholesaler; for other people, this will mean going to auctions, estate sales, yard sales, etc. And others will find they can hand craft the merchandise they sell on Ebay. I even know soimebody who buys stuff on sale at retail stores and tries to sell the items at a profit on Ebay.

Although I'm sure there are some rare people who have found an easy way to make a living on Ebay, for most people it takes a lot of work and a lot of time. It's so much fun, though, isn't it? For me, I'm not making a full-time living, but I have a real profit-making business and I really enjoy it.

I want to know!! What is "used socks" code for??? Anyone????

There was a thread on here a while ago, and someone told us that "dirty socks" was a code for X-rated pictures.

It's sometimes pornography or related paraphernalia. The hints are in the description. There was a thread about this on the CB... Ugh!

I have found that the "Harder To Find" the item, the larger the profit margin. It's the old "supply and demand" thing.

Do your own "completed items" search and see if things you might want to sell go for good prices and sell well. If I don't like the way it sells sometimes it's not even worth listing!

Ick! Guess I'm too innocent - I figured maybe used socks went to people making crafts! lol I was regretting throwing away a big bag of used mismatched socks til the fetish thing. :o

I've seen lots of infant and toddler socks selling for a good price...usuallly 10 or 20 pairs. There is usually apicture - not likely to be some underground thing! LOL And remember little ones grow out of their socks before they have time to wear them out so I could see where people would buy them.
