What Section of SSR Should I Stay In??? (I added a poll.....)

How many different sections are there for Saratoga Springs?

So far, I've heard of Congress Park, the Springs, and the Paddocks.

I'll be making my first "ressie" as a DVC in about a week. We're booking 15 nights in a studio (we plan to rearrange at the 7-month window to include a 1-bedroom at VBR and a studio at BWV.)

So, which section do you recommend staying in a SSR? I think I'd like a resort view (like what you see from the showroom window) more than a DtD view. Being close to a bus stop and maybe a quiet pool is also important.

Also, what floor should I request?

If you don't want a DTD view then you want the Springs or the Paddock.

The Springs will be close to the main pool, bus stop, food court etc.

The Paddock's quiet pool is located in the middle of that particular section, there are 2 bus stops for the Paddock as well.

We stayed one night in the Paddock area. I loved it. I don't remember the building number, but the quiet pool was just steps away as well as the bus stop. And just steps away was the bridge that you could walk over to the main pool or the store, etc. I'm thinking it was 53 something. If I saw a map I could say, but definitely the Paddock area.

Seeing the map now, I stayed in building 15 with the rooms marked 5101 - 5436. I think because I remember 53 something, we were on the 3rd floor.

On our last trip we stayed in a studio in building 15...top floor. We loved the location of the building. We really didn't want the DTD view and we loved being in between two bus stops and so close to a quiet pool.

There are five sections to Saratoga. Springs, Paddocks, Congress Park, Carousel and the last section is not named (at least that I know of). Its still being built.

Location, Location, Location! If you plan on using the pools alot and spending alot of time at the resort, I would stay in the Springs section. If you are going to the Parks alot, I would stay in the Paddocks section. The WDW buses pick-up at the carousel first, Paddocks second, Congress third and Springs last. In the morning, the buses will fill up before they make around to the Springs stop.

Also, what floor should I request?

Personally, I like the higher floors.....better view. Also, the views from the paddocks are the most consistant, as far as scenery is conserned, all pond view.

There are no building numbers at SSR. The numbers are actually the map identifier number. The identifier is strictly the room number and section name.

Ok, so I'm thinking now that I should stay in the Paddocks because of water/resort views and because of the order of bus pickups.

Anything bad I should know about the Paddocks?

Would another section be much better to stay in?

We have stayed both CP and the Springs and I really liked both, the DTD veiw is nice but to tell you the truth we did not spend a lot of time hanging out in the room to look at it so for us the view is least important. So if you want to spend more time at DTD go with CP if you like to be around the main pool and bar and food, then the Springs and for a quite relaxing side the Paddocks section IMOP.

I have only stayed in CP.

It was nice - great view of DD - plus a quiet pool behind me and a bus stop in front....

the bus stop was just as close as the pool... It was a great location.

Looking at the map. We stayed in Springs 4101-4436. I liked this building because it was right in between the quiet & main pools. If you don't care about the DTD view or main pool then request Paddocks.

We want to request the springs, but are worried bout busses during peak. If the Springs is the last stop before leaving are they hard to get on? Are they overly crowded??

Our last stay was the springs and it was hit and miss, although the bus was sometimes crowded we always had a seat, never had to stand, and yes it was the last stop. When coming back to SSR we often got off at the first stop and walked to the Springs before the bus could get around, it was nice and easy. Enjoy your trip

My goal is to try all of the resorts so it may be a while before I get back to SSR. I never request a certain room, because of my sense of exploring. I have stayed at the Springs section, and have liked it. It was pretty close to the main pool (which has a bar), Artist's Point, and the Turf Club. Busses were fine but we went in January. On my second trip in May we stayed at both Congress Park and the Paddocks. Congress Park was an easy walk to DTD, but the quiet pool, the main pool, and even the bus stop seemed far away. And it had a beautiful view, but we aren't view people. Any Disney view is fine with us so far. The Paddocks room was close to the bus stop and close to the quiet pool (no bar but sort of private). It was farther away from the main pool, Artist's Point, and the Turf Club and DTD. Of course, you can get anywhere by bus.

We're hoping to rent points for a February stay at SSR. Are the Congress Park rooms that face DTD noisy? We'll be traveling with younger kiddies, so I thought that CP would be a good choice for it's proximity to the quiet pool and the play area.

Also, do you think a studio will suffice for 2 adults and 2 children under 5?

We were in the Springs in the building that was literally closest to the main pool, AP, etc. We absolutely loved this location. Being so close to the pool and restaurant means a lot to my family, though. We have 3 small children, so it seems that one of the adults always has to run back with one of the kids for one thing or another...lol. It was also great just be able to dash over to Artist's Palette when we needed something.

We love SSR...so I am sure you will end up happy regardless of where you stay. Just like with every DVC resort, there are pros and cons to each of the location issues (great view, but long walk to the pool...etc.)
