What Section of SSR Should I Stay In??? (I added a poll.....)

Where Should I Stay at SSR?

  • The Springs

  • Congress Park

  • Paddocks

  • Carousel

Results are only viewable after voting.
We liked the Paddocks. Our room was right across from the bus stop and a short walk to the quiet pool. We could see fireworks from the pool.

Next time we will try to stay at the springs since the kids loved the pool

Nie part about the Paddocks is you seem to always be the first or second bus stop. The Springs was always the last, it seemed. Also, the paddocks have both the Paddocks stop and the Carousel stop (will there actually be a carousel someday?)

We want to request the springs, but are worried bout busses during peak. If the Springs is the last stop before leaving are they hard to get on? Are they overly crowded??

The only time we had a problem with crowding on the buses was first thing in the morning. There was a couple times on out last trip where the bus was full by the time it got to the Springs bus stop.

We're hoping to rent points for a February stay at SSR. Are the Congress Park rooms that face DTD noisy? We'll be traveling with younger kiddies, so I thought that CP would be a good choice for it's proximity to the quiet pool and the play area.

Also, do you think a studio will suffice for 2 adults and 2 children under 5?

Thanks!

I stayed there and I didn't think they were noisy at all. The only thing is that the balcony is not very private and in the morning there were quite a few families out on their balconies. I think a studio will be fine for 2 adults and 2 children under 5. If the children can sleep in the fold out couch, I think it is a queen. Anyway - I'm positive it is roomy enough for 2 young children.

It is right across from CP. If you drive out of CP from the 2nd drive it is right across the way. I didn't realize this section was opened until we got here.

I also wanted to add that we are in CP now, the last bldg. We are a 5 min walk to DTD and have a view of DTD as well. There is absolutely NO NOISE from DTD. They definitely have top quality hurricane impact windows at this resort. The windows are SO thick you can't hear anything outside. There's more noise coming from the people upstairs banging around than from outside!

Let's see if I can post some photos:

Hmmmm....now am thinking that I SHOULD stay in Congress Park rather than the Paddock.

Let me ask this - are there any areas of SSR that are undesireable - bad views, bad location, etc.? It seems that there are good things about all the locations.

And where exactly is the Carousel? It's not on the map.

jwfla422: I'd love to see the pics that you posted, but they aren't working. You must have lost the link somewhere.

The only bad views I think are in Congess Park. Its the views that are not DTD. Most of the other sections mostly have pond views.

Its the first couple buildings under construction as you enter the resort. I actually posted an updated map some months ago. I need to find it.

Wow - how did you get a 1-bedroom upgraded from a studio? Did they do this for free????

I called Member Services because I have rec'd my confirmation letter; however, my request for the Springs section was not noted. She said that there was a request on file for me, but that it was for the Carriage House. ???

When I told her that I wanted to be close to everything w/ 2 young kids, she said "then you want the Carriage House, not the Springs." I asked where that was and she said it's at guest check-in. This is puzzling to me. According to the map, there are no accomodations in the Carriage House.

Does anyone know what she's talking about or has anyone stayed in the Carriage House?

We've stayed in Congress Park twice and The Paddock once. Overall we really liked the Paddock most. Next time we'd like to try the Springs, though, if we could. That's what we requested last time but we weren't able to get in that section.

The Carriage House is where you go to check in. Impossible to stay there. I'd call back and speak with someone else.

Don't know, it was just our lucky day. It's kinda funny because I recall reading on the boards a few days prior about another DISer who got upgraded. When we checked in the CM said, "we upgraded you to a 1 bedroom suite"...in the very back of my mind I was hoping this could happen (of course who wouldn't)--it wouldn't have crossed my mind if I didn't read about it happening to someone else!

I'm guessing, with the special FL resident/AP rate they had going on a studio maybe they ran out of available studios, but if you ask me I think it's smart marketing. You have no idea how tempting it is now to buy into DVC--if we didn't love the S/D so much I'd be VERY tempted now after this experience, this villa is soooo beautiful, convenient and comfortable.

Sorry about the photos not show, will have to see if I can link them elsewhere. ;)

I'm wondering if she said "Carousel" and I thought she said "Carriage House." I do remember though when I asked where she was speaking of she specifically said "at Guest Check-In." I'm confused. I think I will call back on Monday for clarification.

On our trip in May, we had reservations for a studio at OKW for 1 night, a HA grand villa for the next 5 nights, and then back to a studio for the last night. The studio days were just for my immediate family, husband and kids, and the grand villa was for our family reunion. 3 days before our trip MS called and said through some mix up, the grand villa at OKW was not available, and they were moving us to SSR for the same points. I was so brokenhearted. They had us in a 1BR for the last night, and I questioned that. They said it was because they had no studios available that night. So I requested another 1BR for the first night to make up for the error. They agreed.

I have a feeling that's what she said. Definitely call back.

Possibly she meant your request read, you wanted to be near the Carriage House.

Ok, Congress Park is winning the poll now by a very wide margin!!! :cheer2:

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could post (or link me to) pictures of the different sections of SSR - what the views are from each room, the color schemes of the rooms, etc.

We loved Congress Park for our last trip to SSR. We had a great view Fulton's and a short walk to DTD.
