Supposedly we are booked at the Standard room rate, which from what I have heard from the Cms the hotel is hardly packed at all for the time we are going which is in just about a month. What room or floor would you suggest I ask for?

I am curious about the same thing, I tried going through the almost 700 posts in the WL FAQ thread, there is almost too much information there. Can someone give us specifics on which floor and which side? I heard something about requesting a standard room over whispering canyon...is there a specific floor that would be better than another? I will be there in December for the first time and cant wait to see the christmas decorations, I live in CA so I see disneyland during the holidays but never WDW.

We booked standard view a year ago and I think got upgraded. Our room was 4034 and had a nice view of woods and the MK fireworks. It was also on a corner so a little more private. I've heard that 5032 and 5034 are also highly desirable.

The first time we stayed at WL, we booked a Standard Room and it overlooked the Parking Lot...LOL...so that is not much help...however, when we stayed there in May this year, we booked a Courtyard view and had room 4013, which was a beautiful view of the pool/lake area! I hope you get some specific answers here for which room to book and have a magical time at WL!! :)

I know the WL FAQ post is long, but so worth it to read. There's tons of information in it. It took me quite a few days to get through everything. I read because that's where I'm staying in 2 weeks.

If you can read the first few pages, it helps a great deal with your question. There's a "consolidation" or "summary" post at the beginning (on the first page) that really tells where each room category is.

Hope it helps,
Colette

I wish I could be of more help, but this is what I know. We were just there in May and stayed on the 6th (I think) floor with a courtyard room. Frankly, I wish we could have skipped the courtyard view because I didn't think it was worth the extra $$$. We found some of the rooms on our floor, but facing the MK were nice. They had a lot more sunlight (our room was dark 24 hours a day) and you can supposedly see MK fireworks. These rooms might have been considered woods views, but not sure. I imagine if you request these things they hopefully will just come through with it. I would say 'high floor and view of MK fireworks'. You never know. You might also try to request anything BUT parking lot or loading dock...that has helped me out in the past.

You might consider staying in a room overlooking the time share. We found those rooms to be real quiet and the scenery was very nice (vacation club pool, woods, and part of the vacation club). I again don't know if this is a standard room, but I imagine if you requested it, it probably isn't the most requested room, so you might get it. I think that would be my first choice if I went back. I think I would word it as a 'room overlooking vacation club pool'.

Also, we were offerred concierge floor/service for an extra $35/nite. If you're interested, you might ask what it would cost to upgrade you. We took a pass, but for some it might be worth it...

Good luck!
