I had started another thread about what I need to know to bring an 18 month old to WDW (thank u to all my DISers who participated in that!:thumbsup2)...however, now I am very excited to find out more specifically what rides your 18 month old LOVED or HATED!!:banana:
ps-obviously, it doesnt HAFTA be an 18 mo old (give or take a few months, LOL :rotfl:)

Loved Small World. She wanted to ride every time we passed by, so we had to detour around the castle to get from Frontierland to Toontown.

Thats hilarious!!! I cant wait to take her on Small World, I just hope she's ok in the semi-dark! I dont even mind having the song stuck in my head for the rest of the day! :rotfl:

:mickeyjum What Else???:mickeyjum

Our 20 month old (last year) loved every ride that she was able to get on. As a matter of fact, she cried when we took her off the rides!

The favorites for our son and daughter at that age:

Small World
Country Bear Jamboree
Carousel
Jungle Cruise
Dumbo and the other spinners, though we didn't take them on the Astro Orbiter at that age.
Tea Cups, with no extra spinning
Railroad
Rio de Tiempo (this was before the Finding Donald makeover)
Playhouse Disney

They didn't like:

Anything that was loud, especially if it was dark. Pirates, Haunted Mansion, 3D movies, etc.

They didn't lose it in anything, or even get upset. They were just clingy and would keep their eyes closed though much of it.

oh yeaaah! Country Bear Jamboree! Gee, I dont think Ive been on there since I was 6, and I used to love that! Great suggestion, thanks!!

 More More More!! (please :rotfl:)

We were there with my then-19-month-old nephew in 2008, his favorites were small world and Winnie the Pooh at MK, and Imagination at Epcot (covered his nose for the skunk part :rotfl: ).

We thought he'd really like Nemo (loves fishies) but he was not impressed. He did like wandering around the Seas exhibits upstairs to see the fish.

He absolutely hated very little, but was bored/unimpressed with a few things. Didn't like the Great Movie Ride - not because of the alien, which he actually didn't seem to notice, but because of the story line (we had the cowboy, I think the fire startled him and he didn't trust the cowboy after that). He didn't have much fun in Living with the Land. Didn't like Peter Pan much - I think it was a little too dark-and-disorienting combined.

Thanks for the thread. My son will be 17 months when we go in December. It's good to know what is available for him. How about rides in other Disney parks? Any good ones there.

Our son was 15 months during our 1st trip. I was a nervous mommy his 1st trip and didn't take him on many rides. We did lots of parades, movie theatre things (Mickey's 3D Philharmonic). What he tried he did like though. He LOVED Nemo at Epcot, the Carousel at MK. When he was 27 months, his favourites were Dumbo at MK, TSM at DHS (we did this one twice!), and the dinosaur equivalent to Dumbo at AK (can't recall the name). We are going back this time when our DD will be 16 months and can't wait to try the others.

DS was 13 months when we went in Sept. He LOVED It's a small world & the Carousel. We rode IASW 4 times because of him (and me :) ) He cried when we took him off the Carousel. I think he liked all the excitement of WDW, didn't really hate anything. Fell asleep on some rides/shows ( Safari, Lion King) He loved the princesses which surprised me.

My 17 month old didn't hate any ride we took her on. I think she got squirmy on Spaceship Earth and kept wanting to stand up in her seat, but she was still interested in looking at all the scenes and the "stars."

Like most kids, she LOVED It's a Small World. She also loved Minnie's House (we were there right when Toontown opened-so it was practically empty) and Dumbo. At Epcot she really liked Living with the Land and Journey into Imagination and the Grand Fiesta Tour (Mexico boat ride). At HS she liked Playhouse Disney, Voyage of the Little Mermaid show and Beauty & the Beast show. She did fine on Toy Story Mania too...didn't score any points, but seemed to enjoy the ride. At AK she loved the Festival of the Lion King and looking at the animals in general.

I think our eldest was 3 or 4 before she started getting scared of rides (when she was 3 1/2 we did a trip where we had to coax her into any dark line--I never realized how many queues were dark before that trip. It was quite annoying.

HI there I am a momma of a couple of IASW lovers too :goodvibes (at that age anyway now not so much )

The one that stands out in my mind that they did NOT like was Bugs Life show. Much too dark, loud and startling for them.

They loved Dumbo, Philharmagic, Winnie the Pooh, Tomorrowland speedway, Teacups, Jungle cruise, Peter Pan ect. Basically anything that wasn't too loud or dark that they fit the height requirement for.

Have a grand time!

My DS (20mo) likes IASW, Pooh, Carosel, TSI. Peterpan

Haven't taken him to TSM or PHD in DHS.

He rode in Goofy's Barnstormer, and was serious, but didn't cry. he said he liked it. After watching the camera video at home, he squealed at the video saying he wanted to ride again. So in about 2 weeks I'll take him again.

My 17-month old fell asleep on Haunted Mansion, didn't care for Pooh or Snow White in the Magic Kingdom. She did get a kick out of the tea cups and Dumbo. Didn't really care for Spaceship earth.

She's also not a line-waiter, so I skipped any that we had to wait more than 10 minutes to ride.

Her certifiable favorite was Toy Story Midway Mania, she just giggled at every turn.

I'm glad u mentioned the squirmy part actually, cuz I am curious about that! My DD is just starting to get around herself now and I cant keep her still to save my life! I realize this is all new to her but I am concerned about her actually staying in her seat during a ride (she absolutly gets impatient and squirmy in her booster seat all the time) and also with being able to stay focused on the attractions and stuff, I think she gets bored easily! :rotfl:

WOW! He's brave!!! I didnt know u could even go on a rollercoaster at that age!

at 18mo, he was a full 2 inches taller than sissie was at that age. without shoes he's a shade under 35" now, so the crocs booted him up. Its funny because in February, I think, he was .25" shorter, even with the sneakers. This time he cleared it with about .25"-.5" His hair is massively curly so I couldn't tell exactly, other than he passed.

In line, he was spooked that he wanted to get in my arms, but he never cried or fussed. At the beginning he was all full of smiles, but then he got serious. But no fussiness or crying. I think the next time he will enjoy it more. He usually takes things in the 1st time, then enjoys it afterwards.

At this rate, I think my estimation of 3.5yo and riding BTM is off. I bet he will hit it at 3yo at the earliest..

someone mentioned astroorbiter - funny story...we took my son on that when he was 6mos old!!! i don't think i had ever ridden it before and had no idea what ride it would be...we had him in one of those snuggle carriers so no chance of him falling but really? should infants be allowed on that ride? i don't think i will take him this year when he is 18mos...lol :thumbsup2
