What Rides Did Your 18 Month Old Love And Hate?

Oh really? hahaa! :rotfl:
So any particular faves for her?? :confused3

I think, by far, her favorite was IASW. :sad2:

Funny story about HM. We took her HM and she loved it. True to every other ride, she cried when we took her off. As I am carrying her out a man decides to chastise me in a rather passive-aggressive manner saying to my crying daughter (who is repeating "No, no." and crying) "Poor baby! Were you scared? That ride is just too scary for a little girl like you." He looked about ready to fall over when I told him she was crying because we made her get off the ride!

I have a friend whose 21-month old daughter met the height requirement for Space Mountain at Disneyland (I kid you not. I think the requirement might be lower at Disneyland due to side-to-side seating), and, well, her daughter was obsessed with riding Space Mountain.

I'm going to move this over to our families board.

At that age, she enjoyed them all. Not sure she loved anything. She didn't start to dislike rides til this last time at 3yo. She is in her fearful stage and didn't like anything that was dark or remotely scary. But she was a trooper and didn't cry!

Our 20 month old (last year) loved every ride that she was able to get on. As a matter of fact, she cried when we took her off the rides!
I hope this is what my DD is like when we take her next year at age 2. Well, maybe not the crying when we take her off, but I hope she likes all the rides! We're planning to take her to Dutch Wonderland this summer so I'll see how she does there. (I'm sure her attitude could change between 14 months & 2, but I'm hopeful if she likes the rides at DW this summer she'll like the ones at Disney next year.)

At this rate, I think my estimation of 3.5yo and riding BTM is off. I bet he will hit it at 3yo at the earliest..

:rotfl: Maybe he'll be a basketball player one day! haha
And I just read on here that someones 2 yo met the height requirement for SM! omg, thats crazy! LOL!

someone mentioned astroorbiter - funny story...we took my son on that when he was 6mos old!!! i don't think i had ever ridden it before and had no idea what ride it would be...we had him in one of those snuggle carriers so no chance of him falling but really? should infants be allowed on that ride? i don't think i will take him this year when he is 18mos...lol :thumbsup2

omg, sooo brave, I'd be too scared :scared: But I'm very afraid of heights!

So funny about IASW! Im sure DD will love that too! Surprised about HM, I didnt think I'd put DD on that but it seems Ive read a lot the babies are ok with it! I figured cuz its so dark they'd freak! :scared1:

Hi Ava :wave2:! Just wanted to share with you, thats my DD's name as well! Good name! :thumbsup2

OMG my DD will be tall enough for the WDW one when she's like, 6. :lmao:

DD loved everything she could go on, which I was surprised with how many she could, minus Winnie the pooh. The black lighted section with whatever those creatures are freaked her out and it lasted through the ride.

But her all time favorite is Small World. In Feb when it ended she started singing "More More More!" and the CM said we were welcome to go again. The park was so empty we actually were able to stay on and ride 2-3 times for a half dozen rides.
Watching her in Small World once? Adorable
Watching her in Small World twice? Twice as adorable
The third time? Pressing it's luck
The fourth? Even if it is an hour later? You've gone too far...the echos in your mind will never be the same!

:rotfl2::lmao::lmao::rotfl2:
Watching mommy's veins start to pop out of her neck and eyes start to twirl because she cant get that song out of her head? PRICELESS! :rotfl:

I thinks its the web way people mover. She loved it and napped on it. Did not like Pirates of the Caribbean. Did not like Bugs Life (AK). I didn't either LOL. Loved Tea Cups and still does..now she is 4. Snow White is a little scary too.

Oh yeah, she was afraid of characters at 18 mths. She loved the princesses and Mickey but that was it. She loved the parades as long as nothing came up to her. This is a really fun age at Disney:) We say that every year :rotfl:

Our 21 month old LOVED Pirates. We went to put her back in her stroller after riding it and she asked if we could go again. It's all she talked about for 2 months after our trip anytime anyone asked her about Disney.

Here are some others that she really liked: TTA, the train that rides around MK, Small World, Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, Playhouse Disney, Muppets 3D, Spaceship Earth, and Nemo & Friends. In AK, she LOVED the Lion King show. She clapped, danced & sang (even though she didn't know the words) during the entire show! There really wasn't anything she didn't like, but those were her favs.

We started watching Playhouse Disney on the weekends a couple of months before the trip. I wasn't sure how she would react to the characters in-person because she was afraid of a costumed character at a store close to our home, but as soon as she saw Daisy & Pluto....she screeched with happiness! After that, she ran up to every character she "knew". The pictures we have with her reactions to the characters are priceless!

One tip for getting them used to the characters: buy the Disneyland Sing-along DVD (I got hers on ebay). It has the real-life characters on it (not cartoons) and DD loved it!

My 18 month old loved every ride she could get on. I took both girls at that age, and neither were bothered by darkness or noises until they hit 2 or so. Now, I carry a glow stick with me, and they get to hold it on dark rides. Pure magic!

Oh yes! Mine, too. She loved characters at 8m, hated them at 20m. At 1st she would cling to my neck and wave and say "bye, bye" and wave frantically at every character she saw. By the end of the trip she would wave to them from a distance without fear, but didn't want them near her.

I dont like Bugs Life either!! :rotfl: No thanks!!!

I really wanna take my DD to Playhouse Disney now! I didnt know they had Daisy n Pluto and what not! She watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse every day and LOVES it:lovestruc !! And she watches the rest of Playhouse Disney every Saturday. She would love that at this age!

So funny you say that, we've been doing the character practice run with those DVD's for a while now, that and the Disney Planning DVD! Great advice, I too suggest the same thing to anyone else!

Great Question! Especially since we just returned from Disney with our 18 month old!

LOVED
Philharmagic
Carousel
Dumbo
It's a Small World
Jungle Cruise
Finding Nemo
Crush Talk
Playhouse Disney
Voyage of the Little Mermaid

My daughter had just turned 2 for her first trip. She rode most everything we took her on w/o problems. The things she did not like were Mickey's Philharmagic (too loud and she took her glasses off), the Norway boat ride (she said "Emmy no like trolls for weeks after the trip), and The Great Movie Ride (she got scared at the part w/ the fake gunfire). She loved It's a Small World, The Carousel, Peter Pan's Flight, Living with the Land, the boat ride in Mexico, the dumbo like ride in Dinoland at AK (something spin?). She liked all of the parks.

Have fun!
