What rides close when it rains? I will be going during a particularly rainy week, also, are crowds smaller when it rains?

The forecast in Orlando is basically 40%-60% chance of rain every day from May to September. As you can imagine, it rains on 40%-60% of those days.

What’s important is that it usually rains for less than an hour on those days.

Crowds are barely affected by rain at all at WDW.

A blitzing rain will close outdoor roller coasters and a couple other rides but those closures are often very short (as in they don’t ask people to leave the line short). Lightning closes all outdoor rides.

We went late july/early August and it absolutely downpours every afternoon or evening. The longest it lasted though was a bit over an hour. As others have said, lightning shut down all outside rides. Rain shut down a few when it was an absolute downpour. Light showers didnt really close anything except maybe test track.

There were times when it truly poured that people were streaming out of the park. On our AK day we left too bc it was so bad and we had done everything we wanted to do and didnt want to wait it out. Otherwise we put on ponchos and kept at it.

It's Florida, it rains most days in the summer months. I would be far more surprised if it WASN'T calling for rain everyday.

Test Track doesn’t run when the track is too wet, which means it closes for long periods frequently in the summer. Wet stages can’t be used. Characters can’t get wet. Other than that, as others have said, only very heavy rain closes down outdoor stuff. And our definition of heavy rain can be quite different from the rest of the country. Once when I was up north, it was raining steadily but I considered it normal. My northern companion thought it was absolutely pouring. :p

And rain forecasts? Unless a hurricane is here, can’t trust them. Frequently wrong, to the point where it is raining and the current weather says its sunny. Or vice versa. All. The. Time. Coming in the summer? Always have an umbrella. Unless a hurricane just came nearby and left a wake of dry air and 0% chance rain like Dorian did.

Unless your trip is in the next couple of days, there's NO way to predict the future weather.
Ain't that the truth!
Until people starting asking around here about rain forecasts I never realized that other areas of the country didn't get pop up showers most every day in the summer. Can watch them bloom right on a radar. I guess it's something that only happens in the South? Anyway, totally normal to see rain on the forecast every day but doesn't mean rain all day. Funny what's thought of as common knowledge but isn't commonly known at all.

Expect most rides that have a large part outside to close if it is raining hard or lightning. The rollercoasters and TT do not close in light rain. We have even ridden many of them in moderate rain. When its hot, the rain felt good.

Why can't people just answer the original question? It was very simple: which rides close in the rain? Why go off on tangents about weather forecasts and other matters that were not part of the question?

Trying to provide the OP with information that a weather forecast days, weeks, months out is unpredictable is actually trying to be HELPFUL and not create needless worry.

We were there last week and it forecast rain every single day with high probability. And it did rain every day - other than the night that Dorian hit the coast, it rained about 3 times per day very hard for about 5-10 minutes but it could be doing that in World Showcase in Epcot whereas Future World got no rain. One day when we were at our resort, I could hear them telling people to get out of the pool because of potential lightning but by the time most people got out, the rain had stopped so they let everyone go back in. I'm used to small localized rain storms where I live, but this was way out of my experience with just how "local" these little storms could be and how short they often were.

We've been when there were major thunderstorms every afternoon (August) and basically every ride with an outdoors component was closed. There are so many indoor shows and rides that if you bring ponchos to get from point A to point B, it doesn't matter. If you have a fastpass for a ride that closes, they will switch you over to an anytime fastpass.
