hi. im going to disney world in may and my son will be 20 mos old. which (if any) rides can we take him on? we were particularly wondering about rides like pirates of the caribbean and 20,000 leagues under the sea... ones that we would enjoy too. we were also wondering if we would have any trouble taking him on the shuttle buses- if there would be any point in bringing his carseat (we dont plan on actually taking a car anywhere). any other tips are welcomed. thanks!!

WELCOME.

You son can go on most rides with you. There are a few in each park that has a height restriction but other than that he will be fine. All the boat type rides such as Pirates is just fine. The 20,000 leagues ride has been closed for years. He will enjoy things in all 4 parks. Looks like you are just starting to plan so come back often for any help we can give you. I would also advise getting a good guide book on WDW. You local library often has them if you do not wish to buy one.

Again, Welcome!

I also suggest a guide book. He can go on most rides at the parks but you need to decide which he would be OK with. If he is fine with the dark he will do fine I would think. Some of the rides can be loud as well. I would get the Birnbaums guide "For Kids BY Kids". It gives a description of each ride and tells you details like if the ride is loud, dark, rough ect. It may help.
My DS was 16 months on our first trip. I started him out on Alladin's carpet ride to get his feet wet. After that he was awesome!

Sorry to tell you, but 20,000 leagues under the sea is no longer there. It closed some years ago.

I agree with the other posters that your DS can go on any rides without height restrictions. Try this site for more information:

thanks for the help! i havent been there since i was twelve, i didnt even think about rides being closed. im glad i found out now, i loved that ride!

My daughters favorites last year when she was little were:

Magic Kingdom: Pooh's Honey Pots, Peter Pan's magical flight, Alladin's carpet ride, Small World (was closed last year but she will love it this year and I wouldn't miss it with your little one), Buzz light year ride.
AK- Kilimanjaro safari, and the Lion King Show
MGM- Playhouse Disney Show, Little Mermaid Show
Epcot- we didn't go last year but from others I've heard: Living Sea's, Figment, and that the Illuminations show is a must see for kids that age.
Have fun!

You can't use a carseat on a bus--no seatbelts. He'll be fine in your lap.

I'd start with the tamest ride and work my way up till you find his limit. At 20 months he may be bothered by dark rides, or not. Our little one at 17 months loved everything--a year later was scared by Snow White and the Haunted Mansion. Now at 5 she loves everything--including Tower of Terror.

Here is a site that will have helpful information about traveling with a toddler and lots of other Disney info, too:

and have fun planning! :flower:
