What rides/attractions are worth skipping?

What about the weekend of New Year's? That's when we will be there and I'd heard that is one of the craziest for crowds. We are staying on site and have the FotL perk but I've never been during that time of year.

That might be a challenge to beat the crowds even with FotL but remember that the hotels won't have any more people than other busy times probably so the FotL numbers shouldn't be too bad.

Good luck and have a great trip! We loved our mid-December trips.

I love the ET ride but if I only have a day in the parks I would skip it.
Terminator, Shrek, the Dr Doom drop ride are all skippable. Maybe Dr. Seuss might be something to go on but definitely isn't a priority.

Poseidon's Fury was neat, but I have no desire to do it again, and probably would leave it off if I had limited time.
Same for me...I kept waiting for something big to happen because it's such an elaborate looking facade. Well, nothing at all happened! Especially when you went into the room just before the water tunnel. I thought, "Oh wow, this is going to be awesome", I don't know if something was broken or what, but we just stood there and listened to more of that stupid story. ugh.

Here is what I skip when I go...
Twister and Earthquake (not sure if they are still there but talk about anti-climactic.)
Shrek
Minions (just not a fan of motion simulators that do nothing...very dated to me)
Graveyard review
Men in Black is getting a little old to me too...if you've done Buzz Lightyear, or Toy Story, you've done MIB

At IOA the list of skips would be...
Poseidon's Fury
Sinbad show
Storm Force
Dragon Challenge (I am a coaster enthusiast but something in the design of these coasters is just off...they're not smooth and they make me sick. Only coasters in the world that have ever done that to me and they do it every single time. Got to be a design flaw.)

OP here. We just got back this week. Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions! We did skip Poseidon's Fury. I remember it from last time and knew it was not something to waste time on. Twister and Earthquake and I believe Graveyard review are no longer there (in response to post I quoted). We ended up doing everything pretty much except we skipped Suess Land (was just dh and me this trip and had no desire) and Dragon Challenge. I rode the Hulk Coaster with him once and realized my coaster days are mostly behind me. Just not my thing. Dh loved it though. So, for me I could easily skip Shrek and all the coasters except ones like The Mummy (I still enjoyed that!) and Poseidon's Fury and feel like I didn't miss anything.

"Minions (just not a fan of motion simulators that do nothing...very dated to me)"

Just curious: I always hear Minions is one of the longest lines in the park - constantly busy. Why is that if it's a dated-style motion simulator? Is it just the theming people love - minions being so popular?

I also thought I read on a couple of threads that RRR can be a bit problematic from time to time- it has stopped/broken down mid ride and people were stuck - then had to actually climb down - anyone know if that's still the case or has it been more reliable lately?

Minions is such a cute fun ride.........and yes, it's always got a queue........it has a lovely little storyline and we never miss it.

RRR was evacuated a good few years ago........nothing like that has happened for a long time. It's been reliable for ages, in the first few years they had a lot of issues, but seem to have been sorted out.

It's still a bumpy ride if you're near the back.......we ask for the front every single time, as it's much smoother.

Strange, we find Dragon Challenge to be one of the smoothest coasters around.

Can't see there being a design flaw or it would have been recognised I'm sure.

Love minions! So definitely won't miss this. Thanks for your RRR input - feel a lot better about it. Was going to skip it, but may give it a try and cross fingers that all continues to work smoothly! By the way, I'm very late to the party, but so enjoying your last trip report...working my way through it these past few days. :-)

Lol......thanks! Hope you enjoy reading it........:)

I know what you mean about RRR.......I made the mistake of standing watching it for ages before I would go on it for the first time.....I was convinced I was going to fall out! But once I saw no one fell out or died on it, I plucked up the courage. The climb the first time terrified the life out of me.......the video is hilarious........I'm just screaming while Gloria Gaynor happily tells me I will survive! After that I loved it........on the front two rows only!

I honestly hope you go on it and love it!

Only probably with RRR is that it can ruin your day if you are not in a smooth vehicle. They head rattling can give you a huge headache. I don't risk it anymore.

I must be a total blockhead! LOL No matter how bumpy or rough - boats on rough seas, in crazy coaster rides, my head never seems to be affected - probably not enough going on up there to jostle around! :rotfl:But the one thing I'm always a little bit scared about with rides like these where you're all harnessed up tight is the ride stopping or getting stuck for a prolonged time - hence my original RRR question. I'm so antsy/fidgety that it would be torture for me to be stuck like that for a long time. But I love these rides so much! So I cross every finger when I go on and try to avoid the ones that break down more often.

Weird, I hear a lot of people who ride coasters say they can't handle it either. I don't know what it is about it but it throws my equalibrium off for the day.

Usually we hear that about The Hulk before the refurb or RRR...but most find DD smoothest of all. I certainly do.

Everyone`s different though.

Love it!!!! lol

You`re very lucky.......motion sickness affects so many people......I would still ask for the front of RRR.......it`s so much better!

I`m a bit claustrophobic and always worry about being stuck on Hulk or Duelling Dragons with those restraints!!

looks like you list of rides to avoid shortened.
twister, earthquake left years ago.
graveyard review gone also.

some peeps with short trips to the
darkside usually skip the shows and select rides.

reading all the responses is interesting.

i've seen rides/shows come and go since the park opened.

some i still miss and some i have forgotten about already.......lol

none of us will have the same responses on what to rides to avoid

nice to share what rides we love the most!

I was embarrassed to experience Poseidon's Fury and wouldn't do it again. Super cheesy!

It made me feel terrible! I rode the red one and as I was walking back through to ride the other one, I bailed. I felt so naseous and didn't want to get sick. So strange.
