What Ride/Attraction Were You Excited For, But Ended Up Disappointed?

I respect your opinions but I do have a question. Many of the rides that several of you are saying you extremely dislike are considered Disney's most popular and latest additions (7DMT, ToT, TSM). If you don't like these attractions, what do you like at Disney? What is your favorite attraction and activity? Maybe its not rides.

My all time #1 favorite ride is Splash Mountain, followed by Soarin'. However, the rides I LOVE in general are:

Space Mountain
Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
Haunted Mansion
Carousel of Progress
The Peoplemover
Big Thunder Mountain
Pirates of The Caribbean
Mickey's Philharmagic
Star Tours
Tower of Terror
Rock n' Roller Coaster
Muppetvision 3D
Toy Story Midway Mania
Journey Into Imagination
Spaceship Earth
Grand Fiesta Tour

I was disappointed in Journey of the Little Mermaid. I wasn't exactly expecting a thrill ride or anything but I thought the technology they used was no where near the latest and greatest. I just expected Disney to do a little more with all their "creating magic" experience. Seemed like a half hearted job.

I agree completely. We waited a long time to see it and I was expecting a little more. It reminded me of the Nemo ride yet that was made about 10 years ago. It was cute but just wished it had more advanced technology.

I am in the same boat. The queue is great and the ride was so boring! I expected at least something like Nemo and Nemo isn't that great. There are spots on that ride that you are staring at a wall with some seaweed and flowers. A big fat waste of space. Also the Nemo musical. The sears are uncomfortable and it was an hour of my life that I won't get back. I know there are people who really love it but for our group it was awful. There were 8 of us and we all hated it.

kilimanjaro rapids

I love these type of rides but never went on because I didn't want to get soaked. Finally did it and very disappointed with it. Thought it was short and just a loop.

I agree about Kali River Rapids. It is a sad excuse for a rapids ride. I've been on far better ones in other parks. I remember a GREAT one at Kings Dominion in Virginia.

The Nemo ride. My expectations were too high, and it just didn't engage my then-kindergartner DS the way I thought it would. He much preferred the aquarium. He even liked Living with the Land better.

I went on Journey of the Little Mermaid with very low expectations, having heard not so great things about it, and was pleasantly surprised. It's all about expectations.

My DH, a huge fan of anything space-related, would say Mission Space. He advised me not to ride because one side makes you sick and the other is boring.

The ride that was far beyond my expectations:
Splash Mountain. When I was a kid, I thought it was just one big scary drop. Why would I ever go on it? Then, as an adult, I finally tried it. :)

Definitely the Kali River Rapids. Way too short for how long we waited. It was fun, but would have loved it if it were longer.

I kept hearing all about Fantasmic and thought I'd better put it in our plans. I decided I'd better check it out on youtube just to be sure it was ok for our 2 and 5 year old. We'd made a huge mistake taking the kids into Bug's Life last year. I didn't know it was "scary". (I would have liked it had it just been me and DH, but our little ones HATED it and were terrified.) I'm so glad I watched the video for Fantasmic. It's a two-sided flop for me. Drawn-out and tedious for me but also would be quite scary for our little ones. Thank goodness I found out ahead of time.

DD6 was able to tolerate Bug's Life, but just barely. Fantasmic was WAY Beyond her "creepy" threshold :(

This thread was about being disappointed in a ride you thought you'd enjoy more. (If you want to know what my least favorite ride is, that would be DINOSAUR.) I still ride Tower of Terror from time to time, and I love sharing it with other people and seeing how they enjoy it when they get to visit.
I know people have millions of different preferences and opinions as far as theme park rides go. In general, I am more of a fan of extreme thrill rides: the kind you would find at Six Flags, or Cedar parks. Drop towers normally take your breath away, at least the ones I prefer do, and there is very little sensation on Tower of Terror. (Or rather, for me there was little. For others, I'm sure that's about as crazy as you can get, and there's nothing wrong with that.) The difference is, I don't enjoy being at places like Six Flags, etc. because Disney is a beautiful, enjoyable, well-run park that makes me feel safe and happy. Just because the rides fall a little below par for me, that doesn't mean I don't still get pleasure out of going on them. Disney is a completely different experience, unlike anything else, anywhere else. There are tons of things I don't participate in or necessarily enjoy-- you will never see me eating a turkey leg. But I, like most, love it because of it's whole package.

And my favorite activity is The Incredibles Super Dance Party, LOL.

mine train...why couldn't the whole thing be dark ride? the outside portion is so generic. at least BTMRR has some character on it's outside portions. I really wanted a Hag death scene but alas no such luck.

The Little Mermaid ride which I experienced first in Disneyland. I thought lots of corners were cut and the giant plastic (?) Ariels look horrible. Very disappointing.

Soarin. It's a cute ride but I don't get the long wait times and the people who call it their favorite attraction in WDW. :confused3

These already have been mentioned.

Kali River Rapids. The theme and landscaping were nice, but geeze, Disney built a first generation 1970s model river raft ride. Big disappointment. They knew they screwed up and did a much better job with the ride in California Adventure.

Fantasmic! Totally underwhelming. Couldn't wait for it to be over. Luckily we went to the second show of the evening and were able to walk right in a few minutes ahead of time. I would have been really PO'd if I waited in line for this crap. Also glad we cancelled our dinner package for it.

Soarin' They hang you in the air and show you a grainy movie while shaking you about a bit. I have much better video quality in my living room.
LOL, I never noticed the poor video quality until after I read the comments here. I still love Soarin' though. :)

Maelstrom and Peter Pan (especially) didn't impress me.

Someone else posted in this thread about giving the green side a chance and it still wiped them out. I'll err on the side of caution with this one. I can take a coaster but "spinning" wrecks me.
I had zero problems with Mission Space Green and would even say that I enjoyed it. However, both times I rode, someone started freaking out after the capsule closed, so the claustrophobia issue seems more prevalent than the motion sickness.

The Little Mermaid for sure! Nothing more sad then riding around in a warehouse looking at sad mannequins! The ride queue was 100 times better then the ride!

Definitely The Little Mermaid. I rode it at DL, and it is housed in the most beautiful building, and the queue is absolutely beautiful! But the ride? As my mom said, "I think they are missing some significant story points." It really is a "What was that?" sort of ride.

Mine train too. I heard all these awesome things about it - greatest ride ever!! And, honestly, that first drop is pretty good. But the rest of it is super slow and dull to me. I mean, the center portion where they show all the dwarfs mining is ok, but that slows the whole "coaster" aspect down. It makes it a very fast dark ride :). The whole ride left me cold.

Frozen sing along.
I kept thinking about how we should have done beauty and the beast instead, as we can watch the movie Frozen at home. Also, my five year old kept asking, "WHERE IS ELSA?" The whole time in a piercing whisper.
