What restaurants would you like to see created?

Better character meals, especially with characters that would appeal to the boys. I think all the princess ones are fabulous for the girls, but when researching character meals to do with my boys, I couldn't find anything that really appealed to me/them.

I think it would be a great idea to do a character meal in DHS with characters like the Incredibles, Buzz and Woody from Toy Story, etc.

Or maybe something in Magic Kingdom with Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Pinnochio, etc.

ITA agree that themed restaurants appealing to boys are severly lacking. I like the idea of a Toy Story restaurant, or a Pirates of The Carribean restaurant. I personally think there are plenty of buffets at WDW, so I would be a proponent of these being regular TS.

To the person who suggested a treehouse restaurant...genius!

Agree with the PPs that it would be great to have a Toy Story or Pirates restaurant. It'd be great to have a meal that might appeal more to boys :goodvibes

For the American Pavilion:
CS: have all the hot dog versions from around the US. Every city has their own way of serving hotdogs. And use real buns and 100% beef hotdogs.

TS: Have a gourmet burger location. This seems to be a trend in the US with Todd English, David Burke and Bobby Flay all having burger places.
Most Europeans view American food as burgers, just like most Americans view Mexican as tacos and chili, let’s give them a burger that will blow them away.

For Italy:
How about a CS location with decent pizza and Italian sandwiches. In Italy there are these types of places everywhere.

For UK:
How about a better variety of Chips at the chip shop.
Curry Chips, Coleslaw Chips, Garlic Chips, Chili Chips, Cheese Chips and Bacon Cheese Chips for example as well as batter sausages.

For Mexico:
CS – Upgrade the food at the CS location. How about tamales.

In MK:
How about a sit down restaurant in POTC like is Disney Paris.
Great opportunity for a Character meal IMO

In all Parks - REAL COFFEE
I do not care if it is Starbucks or Mc Cafe, just something better than Nescafe.

I think one of the major reasons the MK will never have great dining is the lack of alcohol. While I realize there are many tee-totalers here on the DIS it should be noted that alcohol is a major revenue source for restaurants. The earning opportunity on food alone is just too hard for most restaurants.

Excellent point. Maybe they could put something just outside the park with a view of the parks.

There are a couple ideas I've seen tossed around on the DIS that I think would be nice additions.

First, another restaurant in the MK, something with a Pirates/Adventureland theme, maybe Carribean-inspired cuisine. MK is seriously short on sit-downs. The new Be Our Guest restaurant in the Fantasyland expansion is cool too, but I was really hoping they'd go in a non-princess-related direction.

Second, a Pixar-themed character meal at DHS. Like MK, DHS is short on good TS options, and the whole of WDW is short on character meals that appeal to boys.

Third, a nice buffet along the lines of Boma in the American pavilion of the World Showcase. Keep the "pods" setup, but instead of African cuisine each pod would be a different region of the US - Midwest with BBQ and corn on the cob, South with fried chicken, greens & cornbread, Creole/Cajun with jambalaya and red beans & rice, New England with clam chowder and cobbler, West Coast with California rolls, sourdough bread, etc.

Since POFQ does not appear to not have a justly themed restaurant that serves New Orleans/Cajun food pasta and seafood then my vote would be for fried oysters, gumbo, etouffee and andouille.

I think all of the resorts should have a themed restaurant to go with the atmosphere of the hotel. At OKW, I DON'T think Olivia's is the right style of restaurant. I have only been there for breakfast on any given occassion on the morning I'm leaving. The food is decent but not spectacular. I'm not going to stay on resort for dinner if I can go to T-Rex or The Earl of Sandwich. They got rid of the conch fritters (which my sister loved) at OKW and they were great. I would expect something maybe named "Hemingways" (since Ernest Hemingway lived on Key West) and have maybe even a seafood buffet. If they up the ante for resort restaurants, then maybe more people would visit the resorts. It's not difficult to get to them, just jump on the right bus or the boat to go to PKW or SS. Restaurants are limited even in Downtown Disney with the number of people, so to have the resorts compete for business would be a win-win.

I also vote for a deli, especially for Fort Wilderness. The only counter service it has is lunch at the Meadows swimming pool. It definitely needs a regular counter service restaurant. A deli would allow people to get a good sandwich, salad, and/or soup and also purchase the fixin's by the pound to take back to the cabins/campers/tents.

2. Haunted Mansion Dining. Nuff said.

Oh yeah, that would be cool! Theme the whole restaurant so that it actually looks and feels like the inside of the Mansion. Have the wait-staff somber like they are in the entrance to the Mansion. Set it up so that the pictures change. And maybe do something to have realistic ghosts who float far above the tables from time to time.

Ok, you did say, "Nuff said," but I couldn't resist. What a great idea!

I would like to see a retro Coral reef. We have been to WDW many times. In 2001, 7 of us ate at the Reef and the food was delicious, the prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was elegant. We had dining reservations and the place was very busy.

We went again in 2007 and were very disappointed. I would like to see the old Coral reef. It was great then!

I love the idea of a fabulous TS in the American pavillion! So many great menu options for that one.

Can we put a *real* pizza place somewhere, anywhere! Real homemade crust, fresh sauce and choice or real toppings...eggplant, artichokes, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, sausage, olives, prosciutto...ok..I am getting a bit carried away...They could even do different dessert pizzas...:cloud9:

Definately need to add a *boys* themed character meal. I cannot believe that Disney hasn't done this. Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Buzz, Woody, Army Men, pirates, Phineas and Ferb! ...tons of options...pick one...any one!

For the American Pavilion:
CS: have all the hot dog versions from around the US. Every city has their own way of serving hotdogs. And use real buns and 100% beef hotdogs.

Except of course for the Southern style hot dogs- we use some PORK in that dog! :cool1:

As far as other restaurants I'd like to definitely see something themed around Pirates at MK, possibly as a character meal? MK could also use another TS in Tomorrowland themed around Buzz- again, another opportunity to do a character meal for BOYS.

DHS could use something more upscale as a TS. Sci-Fi is a glorified hamburger place. I like the idea of something Asian themed but definitely avoid another buffet.

Overall I'd like to see food quality brought back to where it was 9 or 10 years ago. This dumbing down for the masses has created bland food all over WDW.

I would so be there for a POTC themed restaurant!!!
I love me some pirates, I have pirate decor all over my house (not POTC related, just plain old Pirate LOL)

I really like this idea! :thumbsup2

There's so much to American cuisine it would be hard to dedicate a TS to just one style or region.

For me the biggest and best change would be for almost ALL of the restaurants currently there to have a better childrens menu!
Unless the DDP is banished the kiddie choices are going to stay cheap, quick and with little inspiration. Part of the genius for the dining plan is the bad overpriced kid options subsidize the parents meals.

I blame too much Iron Chef but maybe something along the lines of the show for WS?
