What restaurant exceeded expectation?

Kona is my new favorite restaurant. Awesome food. Wonderful CM's.
Saw it more as the cafe as it is, but didnt realize they had such yummy food.
I think most people do what we did for so long, eat at OHana's and walk right past Kona. Its a hidden treasure in my book!

After reading mostly negative reviews about Boatwrights dinners we thought we'd try the breakfast and we were very pleasantly surprised! We all really enjoyed it very much and wished we hadn't waited till the day before we left to try it for breakfast! YUM!!

Concourse...I was not expecting much, but it was really good food, good service, great atmosphere. :)

Kona was the best dinner by far.

For table service: Coral Reef, San Angel Inn and Tony's. Tony's in particular. We absolutely loved that place for food and atmosphere. Everybody around us seemed happy too. When I commented about how nobody seemed to be having a terrible time or gagging on nasty food (just joking to dh) my dd very seriously said "maybe none of these people read disboards". Had to laugh since most people do go to WDW very uninformed and have a great time and good eats! Glad I gave it a try in spite of its many bad reviews.

For counter service, probably Pinnochio's Village Haus. I had heard terrible things but the paninnis were very good.

I would say the restaurants we ate at on my sister's birthday because they all went do something extra special for her. We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's, then lunch at Tony's where they had put confetti and a streamer on the table and brought her out a really good sundae, then dinner at Crystal Palace where our waitress made sure Eeyore was at the table when the cake was brought out. They had also put confetti and a streamer on the table. Those three restaurants really exceeded my expectations. :) Plus the food at all of them was excellent!

Yet another vote for Kona Cafe. I've been there a few times, including a lunch, a dinner, and some breakfasts.

I would have to say Raglan Road.. I was not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised--service was great, food was good and we had entertainment......we would definitely recommend this restaurant..

We love Boma and 'Ohana but I was really really impressed with Kona. It was way beyond our expectations and may be the only restaurant that everyone in the family loves.

:thumbsup2 Another Boma vote! We weren't sure what to expect when we went but knew all you guys thought it was great.. but the food was really yummy! (Also very nice to have a change from burgers, chicken and steak) It was also wonderful to have a nosy around the AKL, soaking up the atmosphere! ;)

We just went to The California Grill, and it was much better than I expected (and I expected it to be great). The service was outstanding, and the food was excellent!!!!:thumbsup2

Tangerine Cafe (Morocco) in Epcot. I forget why we tried it, but we ended up eating there 3 times during a 10 day trip! I think we were burned out on the standard fast food fare and this was such a nice change of pace. I suspect the good view of the bellydancers was a factor for DH.

Thanks for all the great responses, you have all given me some great ideas for my next trip.:)

We were thinking about trying that this July, sounds like it was really good. I will have to put that on our Advance Reservation List.

Wolfgang Puck Express for Counter Service---wonderful meal. Great deal if you are on the Dining Plan.

Tangerine is a CS meal, no ADR needed. My favorite CS as well.

Boma, JIKO and LeCellier exeeded my espectations for TS.

I have to say that Spoodles on the Boardwalk was a great dining experience. I totally did not expect this going in. We had the flatbread for an appetizer and it was so tasty. I had a penne pasta with sausage dish with a tomato cream sauce that was probably the best italian dish I have ever had. I keep dreaming about that dish. We had a great time! We didn't have dessert because we went to the ice cream shop adjacent to it and got a milkshake and walked the boardwalk. Our kids had a great time on the Boardwalk! I would highly suggest Spoodles for dinner and then cruise the Boardwalk!

I thought the food at California Grill might be too funky for me. I was pleasantly surprised that everything was wonderful!
Also, from hearing mixed reviews I wasn't so sure about Chef Mickeys dinner, but we loved it!
