What resorts are available directly through Disney?

Sorry if this is going to come out confusing, but I had a couple questions about what you would do in my situation.

Dh and I are not DVC owner's yet, but have decided we want to buy in within the next few months.

We're planning on taking a trip next summer around mid-June and would like that trip to be our first DVC one, as to not "waste" money on a trip when we know we'll be buying in soon anyway.

We both have agreed that BCV is the resort we want to ultimately own at.. but because of the high demand of this resort, it seems as if smaller re-sale contracts are very hard to come by (and if they do come up, they're sold almost immediately). And we will need to have a contract finalized by the beginning of November to be able to take advantage of the "pre-7-month" booking.

We'll need to start small, since we both agree we will not finance this purchase, and at our proposed purchase timeframe of around September of this year, we'll only have enough to buy approx. 70-80 pts at the going re-sale price. Depending on if the contract is fairly loaded or not, hopefully this will give us enough pts as we bank/borrow to stay 10 nights or so like we would like to.

I know we'll be adding on in the future, to ultimately give us approx. 100 pts per year, but starting slowly at this point. Believe me, I really wish I could just buy the 100 pts right now, but just can't do it, lol.

Another thought I had is what if we were to buy a small contract that comes up (thinking either at SSR or OKW), make our reservation for our vacation at that resort, then at the 7 months, call and take the chance that BCV might be available at that time... then after we save up enough to add on, add on BCV points through Disney. I know that would be more money in the long run, but at least we'd be guaranteed to get a BCV contract then.

Is it possible to then add on at BCV through Disney directly? Or would we have to wait until a contract would become available through them as well?

Thanks for any thoughts, :)

If its something you could swing now if the opportunity arose I would call TTS and get on a wait list for a small resale. As far a Disney goes, you surely can add BCV from them as long as they have points available. So there may or may not be a small wait from them as well. Good luck and good choice! Maybe you'll be a neighbor very soon......:thumbsup2

Unfortunately we won't have the cash for a re-sale of the size we want until mid-summer. :( But I'll definitely be calling them once we get close to the amount. Do they have a separate wait list besides their e-mail list they send out? Would be great if they did, but was under the impression they didn't do that.

Thank you! I sure hope so, :lovestruc

Since you've stated your preference for BCV, I would hesitate to do this (or really do some soul searching about how important owning and having first dibs to stay at BCV is for you). Since you are working with a 9 month purchase timeframe, I would *think* that you'll be able to find your ideal BCV contract within that time. Call The Timeshare Store, get on their mailing list, and be in a position to jump when that contract comes through. I'm sure that they can also give you an average of what type of listings for BCV they see on a monthly basis. Either way, best of luck to you! :goodvibes

Yea, I agree.. at this time, I know I wouldn't be as happy buying anywhere else, so think I'll wait it out a while longer, keep saving up, and see what kind of contracts starting popping up early summer. Would be nice if an even smaller contract than I want would pop up late spring/ earlier in the summer (after I have the funds), get the ball rolling, and add on as our funds allow to get us up to where I want to be.

Thanks for the well-wishes, :)

You can't buy a small contract direct from Disney as a first time buyer. So if you need to start small, you have to buy resale.

Right.. that's why I was thinking it could be an idea to buy the smallest contract I could find elsewhere, then add on BCV pts through Disney..

But at this point, since I'll be waiting a few months anyway, I'll just keep looking for what re-sale BCV contracts show up and go from there...

If only I had $8800 sitting around right now, sigh! :sad2:

Keep looking at that June UY one on TSS, lol!

Which brings me to another question, but think I'll start a new post for that, :)

You can get on The Timeshare Store's email alert list even if you don't intend to buy until later in the year. You do not need to wait until closer to time you plan to purchase. They don't call prospective buyers, but the send out the priority email alert so all prospective buyers on email list have equal opportunity for contracts as they become available.

jmho but you shouldn't spend your money buying at any other DVC resort that you are not 100%plus sure that you and your family wouldn't mind staying at if you aren't able to switch over to BCV at 7 month window. It's your call ultimately, and I totally relate to saving up money to buy via resale, but I think it is best to start off by buying BCV resale if that is where you want to be - - I don't see starting off with a small SSR resale as a way for you to save any money because when all is said and done if you do that and then add on BCV points directly through Disney you will be paying far more for those BCV points then what the resale market offers them at; it will be hard to realize any savings :

~ an add-on at BCV at over $100 per point and at 25 pt minimum using cash to purchase through Dis gives you max of 75 BCV points by both banking & borrowing to use every 3 years....look over the points charts to see how many nights you'd be able to book with that amount of BCV pts at 11 mos priority booking window ( the SSR or OKW points would not be combinable with BCV points until 7 month window opens so owning another resort's points doesn't give you any booking advantage at BCV even after you have added on some BCV points ).

It's always best to buy where you really want even if that means waiting things out until the time is right for you to buy & for the BCV resale that best fits for you to come along. Focus on getting to where you want to be financially before you make the purchase on the right BCV contract even if that means delaying when you hoped to first make use of DVC points, make your decision free from the pressure of having to have points by a particular date to book a trip on a specific date so there is nothing to regret on what & where $ is spent. DVC isn't going anywhere for a long time so there will plenty of years to make trips.

Best wishes on your planning :goodvibes

When I was selling, I faxed the paperwork to The Timeshare Store on a Friday afternoon. They added my listing to their website on Saturday. I got a call Saturday evening that they had a buyer for me.

No e-mail went out during that time period.

So my advice is - if you have your heart set on a contract which will be hard to get, check the website as well as checking your e-mail frequently (after you get on their e-mail list).

Yea, I'm addicted to their website, I think I check it about 10 times a day if not more, lol!

I think what I'll have to do once we get closer to our point of being financially set to buy in is to sit down with dh, and have a talk that he'll need to give me the go-ahead to jump on one as I see fit.. there won't be time to contact him between the time I see it, and the time it sells most likely.
