next august 09 we are heading down to dw for our first official dvc as a

family plus 3 extra kids in tow:rolleyes1 , so with ours we are talking 5 teens

(16 and 17

yrs olds). Yes, we will be renting a van as well :thumbsup2 so no dme for us.

As of right now we are booked at our home resort a 2 bedroom at okw.

However, since this is a larger group my dh thought it would be great for the

kids to stay at either bwv or bcv because of the boardwalk area especially at

night with all the activities plus walking distance to epcot / hs.

However, we thought about akl as well, there are 2 different ways to do

akl...a 2 bedroom value or standard

which is great because we will have our own bathroom and the girls and boys

will there their own baths as well (great layout with akl), the last thought is

to stay at a value resort for the 1st 2 nights friday / saturday because my

dh doesn't want to borrow for this year and if we can get

the akl Concierge this would be great for quick breakfasts and snacks thats if

there was availablity.

What do you think would work better for the kids and us as the

parents :scared1: btw...this is my dd's sweet 16 birthday celebration gift

in lue of a party at some hall. Any input will help us out because I keep going

back and forth with this and I think my dh will shoot me soon if I don't make

up my mind :lmao: My dd doesn't mind either way as long as its disney

world :cloud9:

You are brave taking 5 teens (says this mother of a soon-to-be 16-year-old):lmao:

I would say that BCV would be perfect because of Stormalong Beach (the themed swimming pool) as well as the ease of access to EPCOT and DHS. The teens could walk the "boards" in the evening and enjoy the games on the BW side.

BWV would work well too ... although the pool isn't as great as at BCV.

Regardless, where ever you stay they will have a fabulous time! What a wonderful way to celebrate DD's Sweet 16!

AKL will have the extra (3rd) bathroom only if you are in Kidani, and then it would have to be standard or savannah view. The values are all in Jambo. If you do get a concierge 2 bedroom, that will be in Jambo, so again, it will have only 2 full baths.

You should be able to get into BCV or BWV for August at 7 months.

I think that I would either stay with OKW because those villas are the largest or go with the boardwalk area.

Oh I didn't know the the concierge only had 2 baths you learn something new everyday, thanks :thumbsup2 .

We did a similar trip with 4 teenagers (16 & 18 year olds)at the time. We stayed at BWV and it was perfect. They enjoyed the board walk, the stores and eating places and the walks to two parks. So it was easy to give them the freedom to roam and explore.

BCV would provide much the same type of benefits, though the kids didn't spend a lot of time in the pools so SAB didn't matter as much to them.

:wave2: Hi Granny :wave2:

I agree that the teens really seem to enjoy the freedom of roaming the BW area. I don't even want to share how much DD spent on the arcade games :faint:

Another thing to know about AKV Concierge. There are only five two bedroom lockoffs and they go rather quickly. Three savanna view and two pool view. It might be difficult to get that at 7 months out.

I'd keep the OKW. Buses are great from OKW to the parks. The kids can take the boat or bus over to DTD. They can take a bus to the water parks or theme parks. They can have a ball at one of the pools at OKW.

And you'll have more room there than anywhere else.

I'd keep the OKW reservation. The villas are much larger and with 5 teens you'll want to have lots of space! It's still an easy bus ride to wherever they want to go and you can pool hop to any of the other resorts except BC and AKL.

Our kids are now 13 & 16 and get a bit of freedom at WDW, as long as they stay together. They take buses from OKW (or whichever resort we are at) the the parks, Downtown Disney and the water parks with no trouble.

I agree with the poster who said BCV due to Stormalong Bay and a quick walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk area. It is also an easy boat ride to Swan & Dolphin and then across the street to Fantasia Mini Golf, which my kids love!
Have fun!:)

Hands down I would go for OKW grand villa! You need space. The kids will love it. My DD and her friend loved it at age 18. Teens are friend-oriented in general and not Disney-oriented. They can take a bus to whereever they want to go. This will give them a great place to hang out. You take the master suite where you can escape whenever you want. There are 4 full baths (well one is 3/4), but plenty of showers and sinks and huge laundry room and space, space space which you will love with 5 teens.

No way would I want to stay with 5 teens in a teeny 2BR at the other resorts. I would not be looking forward to that one. I wouldn't have any hesitation to stay with all those teens in a GV.

FWIW, the OKW pool slide is the fastest resort pool slide at WDW. I had a strong suspicion after trying it a couple times. And cast members told me the same -- if they can be trusted.

OKWGV!! You've got the 11 month window. Go for it.

thanks everyone for all of your replies...

My dd is fine with okw but like others have said the bw resort area has more that is happening, so lots to think about. I have til late december to finally make up our minds since that will be our 7th month.
