What Resort for Transportation?

My BF and I are currently planning for a trip (date still undecided due to school) and we started talking about resorts. We will solely be using Disney transportation, so the ease of transportation is a big factor in our decision. I know deluxe resorts are the best for that, but with the cost of airfare, we can't afford that upgrade. So, what are the best value/moderates in terms of transportation, or are they all equally good/bad. Is the upgrade to a moderate worth it, we probably won't be spending much time in the room.
Thanks!

If you go with a Value, I suggest Pop. It is centrally located and uses it's own busses.

We have stayed at Pop and Port Orleans French Quarter. When we stayed at Pop, it was fine. The buses took awhile to arrive and it was always crowded--always! We go in the summer, though, which is a busy time. On our last trip we upgraded to the moderate POFQ. Wow, unbelievable difference between the moderate and the value. There were several differences that made the upgrade considerably better, but I will focus solely on transportation since that's what your biggest concern is. At Pop we found transportation to take a lot longer. The line to wait was out in the sun. It took a long time for a bus to arrive, when it did we often had to wait for the next one to arrive because there were so many people waiting for the bus. We always arrived at the bus stop 45 to 50 min before park opening. When we stayed at POFQ, the buses came more frequently. Even if we had to wait a few minutes for one we got right on the bus because we never had more than 10 people waiting for a bus (under covered shaded area). It was so calm, peaceful, and easy at POFQ. Very stressful at Pop. We saw a night and day difference in bus transportation between Pop and POFQ. Both stays were in the same month in summer time so that wasn't the factor that threw the variables. It was DEFINITELY worth upgrading to the moderate from the value. I would love to stay at a deluxe but I just can't justify the price.

Thanks for your response. POFQ was the moderate that I've had my eye on, so it is really great to hear a positive review of it. Now to convince the BF that the upgrade is worth it!:goodvibes

One thing to add about POR, is that it is the only Mod that offers a free boat ride to Downtown Disney. Of course you can get to DTD using resort buses, but IMHO the boat service is far more relaxing. DTD has so many great restaurants, bars and shops - plus Cirque du Soleil is there. We always go to DTD, so if I was going to rely on Disney transportation, this would place POR higher up on my choice list. Another thought about transportation - sometimes you can find a last minute Alamo weekend car rental "special". You need to rent/keep the car over Sat night and return by Monday. I've done this the last few trips - had planned to use Disney Transportation exclusively, but have been able to rent a car on the cheap for the weekend part of the trip. You rent the car for a 24 hour period and schedule your hard to travel to ADR's during that time frame - for $20 + tax. Check out the DIS transportation board for tips on car rentals - but the Alamo specials usually are on their home page, for dates 30 day and less. Good luck planning.

We've gone to CSR twice, both times for President's Week, and we never had problems with the busses. I always felt like we got everywhere very quickly (with DTD a possible exception, but I could care less about that) and busses were never crowded. Its also a beautiful resort with lush grounds and, IMO, the most up to date rooms of all the mods.

We have stayed at Pop and at CSR, and CSR was nicer hands down for the reasons listed above. We also loved that the bus stops were spread out around the resort, so even though the resort is large, you were always close to your bus stop. CSR also is the only resort on its route. POFQ and POR share a bus. I have had friends stay at deluxe resorts who reported that the buses sucked because they went to several resorts, and they were always packed.

I have stayed at POR and All Star Sports. Really liked POR. Hated the All Star. Maybe it was the time of year at ASsports but way to many kids! Kids everywhere at all times of day and night!! Dont get me wrong I love children but the question is what happens to some parents when they go on vacation? Just because your on vacation doesnt mean you give up watching your kids!!! 8,9,10 year olds running around at 2 am??? :confused3 My point is I think you will have a better vacation staying at POR. There will be children there too but not as many and it is a much better place to stay. You cant beat the boat ride to DTD. Its so relaxing!! I say POR or POFQ!!
