What resort do you absolutely have NO desire to stay at?

I might be "dating" myself, but when I first saw the Poly, I thought of that Brady Bunch episode where they went to Hawaii...lol!!

I'm surprised how many ppl say they wouldn't stay @ GF or Contemporary.

I always disliked how Contemporary looked, but we stayed there one night & the rooms are Huge!!

I guess some ppl can't get past the theming of GF, but we've stayed there a few times & I loved it! Rooms were big, great food choices & I love the Main Bldg. We had the most magical view of the Castle!!

I love that Disney has something for everyone! I have a few more Im not interested in

AOA-Waaayyy too much theming!
WL-def see the GWL in that resort
OKW-too far from everything
SSR-same reason
CBR
I have stayed at a DVC resort & I can definitely see the financial advantage in this, but for some reason, it takes some of the Magic away!
I love the space, but no mouse keeping unless it's a cash ressie, it's further to walk to the main pools, a lot of ppl bring a Lot of groceries there & it just doesn't feel like a hotel. I like to cook, but when I'm on vacation, I like it to be relaxing!
Although we just did the Deluxe DDP & I was quite unimpressed with almost ALL of the food.

I know this should also be part of another thread-but we are quite unimpressed with the way CL has changed.

All Star Sports. The sports theme just doesn't feel like Disney to me.

I thought that too, before I stayed there. If you are in the preferred section it is more of an ocean theme than anything. It is all bright blues and greens, decorated with flowers and surf boards. And some sharks fins for good measure. Just thought I would let you know in case you decide you really need a Disney fix, but have a small budget.

Having only been to a few resorts over time I do have my LEAST desirable list:

1. GF-Too stuffy
2. Any AS-Too small for my family of 6
3. BC/YC-Theme not inviting for my family

Once again this is just my humble opinion.

The Values

POFQ and POR - I know so many people LOVE these 2 resorts, but like other posters I'm from South Louisiana so I don't want to feel like I'm home when I'm on vacation :) Though I'm sure it's way cleaner then the real thing here ::yes::

What resort do you absolutely have NO desire to stay at?

The Poly - We've visited a couple of times ... just not appealing to us. (It's the only deluxe we havent tried so we'll probably try it at some point)

Any of the Values - We've visited a couple of them ... just not appealing to us.

To those saying no to the GF for being stuffy have you guys every stayed there? Just wondering. It's a beautiful hotel but the staff is not stuffy or rude in my experience.

I don't think GF is necessarily stuffy but I do think without a SIGNIFICANT discount (way more than the usual 35%) it is not worth the money they charge. But I know folks who feel the same way about the Poly, so it's totally subjective.

The poor All Stars get no love....:upsidedow

I have actually stayed at all three All Stars, but all three stays were between the ages of 21 and 23 and ranged from Spring break to DH and my Disneymoon!!

When we had our girls and took them for the 1st time (they were 3 and 5), we stayed at POP and it was a nice stay, but as a family of four, we just wanted more....more space, more serenity, more pampering. We then tried CBR and strongly disliked it and that made us try deluxe the next trip, and we were hooked. (unfortunately for our wallets).

But, my point is, that the All Stars completely and totally suited our needs on the trips that we stayed there, but that was a different era in our lives. I still maintain that the All Stars are great little resorts, and if the situation presented itself that would make the values ideal, I'd do it again.

Just fyi, if you rent DVC points, they can book 5 people in a 1 bedroom.

I didn't know this!!! Thank you!

YIKES!!! My friend and I are booked at All Star Movies in January for the marathon and now I'm worried...so many people say no way!! My friend is on a strict budget and its all she could afford. I'm going in not expecting much...that way I can't be disappointed..right! I have no desire to stay at GF, Ft. Wilderness, Contemporary and POR. I've stayed at CBR and NEVER again!!! Way too big! I also said we wouldn't stay at WL, but got a great deal for next August so we booked it. I'm from MN so the theme never appealed to me, it took me a while..but not I'm really looking forward to staying there.

I wouldn't worry at all. We loved our ASMo stay. But now, as a family of 5, we need two rooms or the family suite at ASMu. So it makes even the Values more expensive. And honestly, if the opportunity for a quick cheap trip came up - I'd stay in an All Star if that is all that fit the budget!

I am one if the posters who called GF stuffy. I have never stayed there but I have been there twice, once to eat at 1900 PF and once to just walk around and see it. IMO, it seems very formal. The resort is very pretty but I feel like I am walking in a museum or in someone's very fancy living room and I'm afraid to touch anything for fear I'll break it. My "stuffy" remark had nothing to do with the CM's....I'm sure they are lovely people. It doesn't seem like a resort I would be able to relax at. My favorite resort is BC and I've noticed that several people have posted that they don't like the theme....I'm not offended in the least! Different strokes for different folks, as my dad is fond of saying.

Couldn't have said it better :)

Don't ever, ever, ever want to go back & stay at Beach Club. Too many issues!! My DD wanted to check out the day they checked in & go stay somewhere off site. Me, I just wanted a really nice family reunion type vacation & to enjoy F&W. One out of two isn't bad.

Any of the Value resorts. Don't care for the excessive Disney theme and we like having an inside lounge/bar to to hang out at in the evening after we get back from DTD or dinner. DH and I are no longer park commandos and now view a trip to WDW as we do a vacation to other places. Explore, relax ( i.e. pool time ) and have some good meals.
Due to other trips at other locations we also aren't looking to stay Deluxe unless we get a great discount. For same price of a Epcot or Monorail resort we have overlooked the Pacific Ocean at a hotel of the same quality.

I've yet to mention mine but it would be the Grand Floridian, decoration is just not my style. It's not about the staff being rude or stuffy but hotel style and decoration itself can be stuffy.I agree that in it's style it's a beautiful hotel but that style is distant from my style.

GF- Decor isn't for me.

Honorable Mention:
Any of the Values- If our travel dates needed a room at the beginning of the trip before getting into our DVC, they would work. Not for a full week or more. Double beds are a no go for me, if they were double xl beds, maybe.

I must also say any of the Values, I just have been spoiled with pretty much staying at the Beach Club, and right now in my life I am in that whole "I hate Kids" and since I know this is where a lot of them end up more than the deluxe resorts , I admit them but there is talk to stay at AoA, in the one of the Family Suites so When that happens who knows

I have no interest in staying at the Grand Floridian or at the Contemporary. I've stayed at ASSp and don't think I will return there.
