I tried the nookcolor. The LCD glare did bother my eyes and the glare off the screen also bothered me. I also felt it was quite heavy. Guess I need the kindle or reg nook. Do you have a light that you like for night reading or do you just use your bedside lamp? I want the easiest "hold" for the reader cuz I like to read in bed. I don't want the awkwardness of trying to hold a light in place if it is not intended for the specific reader. Not seeing great reviews anywhere.

A Mighty Bright Pocket Flex is a great booklight. It has a really flexable long neck and is... mighty bright. LOL. I love it. Clips on very easy to the cover of both Nooks and Kindles.(I have both.) It will also clip right on to the reader. I actually returned my Nook light when I got this. You can google it to see what it looks like. I got mine from Books-a-Million.
Nancy :thumbsup2

I have the cover for my Kindle that has the built-in light and I love it. I don't often read in bed unless I have a bedside lamp on, but I used it recently on an airplane and was very pleased. Plenty of light to see the page and no need to have anything clipped on to keep up with.

I was going to suggest this. I read some really good reviews for this on Amazon.com. I have the reg Nook, without a cover. And the reviews I read said this light will stay clipped on a naked Nook. I'll be ordering mine soon. Thanks Nancy F. I'm gonna check out Books-a-Million.

oh that sounds like a great set up! With a bedside lamp, do you need much light with the e-ink or just a little glow. I am disappointed that the nookcolor bothers me so. I played with the settings and just could not find the right comfortable screen for night read.

The special cover is nice, if you have the latest Kindle that it fits. however, it is rather heavy, so if you have carpal tunnel symptom or just weaker hands/wrists, be warned about the relative heaviness.

I bought a Kandle light, it clips to the tip of the Kindle, and works pretty well. I read myself to sleep, and while I do use a low bedside light as well most nights, I *can* read with just the Kandle just fine.

Another vote for the Mighty Brite for $14.99. I have a Kindle. I do need to aim the light off to the side of the kindle - because you will see glare on the screen, I find it annoying, others may not.

This :)

I have a kandle as well and a huglight. I have the older kindle version, so I can't get the case with a light :) Both the kandle and huglight work well, but the huglight requires a bit more positioning since it goes around your neck and you position it.

Did you buy the nook color or just check it out in the store?
If you own it have you tried the different settings? I turn the brightness on mine almost all the way down and chance the screen to night. This makes back round is black and the words white. I also change the size and spacing of the text. I find it much more pleasing to read this way. Just my two cents.

I just recommend against the Owl Booklight. The plastic cover over the bulb casts shadows on the book. I have the "nook" light and love it.

I love my Kandle for the Kindle. I pick two up for $10 on amazon with I special I heard about here on the dis. I think they run $25 now.

I got one of the mighty brights when I bought my Kindle 2 years ago but was always wrestling with it and it's 'hot spots' where it's shine reflects back instead of illuminating. It's a great dead tree book light, but not so much for an e-reader. http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright...e=UTF8&s=fiona-hardware&qid=1295617663&sr=1-2

The Kandle has no hot spots and covers the page adequately. I am very pleased with it. http://www.amazon.com/Kandle-Ozeri-...e=UTF8&s=fiona-hardware&qid=1295617663&sr=1-6

thank you. I was playing with the night setting the other night, and I was almost seeing double. I do the best with grey and very dim at night, but still not comfortable. I am disappointed because I like the reader. The 2 things that bother me are the glare and the weight.

I have a Mighty Bright and a Kandle and I really like them both. Both of them do a really good job of lighting up the screen.

The Mighty Bright uses AAA batteries which is nice but it is really easy to accidentally turn it on if it gets bumped by something in my purse. If I don't notice this, I end up wasting battery power.

The Kandle uses more expensive batteries but it is extremely portable (The size of a beeper) and it doesn't accidentally turn on if it gets bumped.

I have got to the point where I use the Kandle when I'm out and about and use the Mighty Bright while I'm at home.

Do any of you use the Kandle without a cover? Personally I prefer my Nook without a cover but I'm having difficulty finding lights that fit directly onto the nook.

I have no idea how well it would fit on a Nook (I didn't keep my Nook long enough to try) but it clips onto the Kindle without a cover just fine. Even while in it's cover I still clip the Kandle onto the Kindle itself.
