We will be at the BC for half the Spring AP rate end of June and 1/2 the Summer AP rate beginning of July. :flower:

How does WDW deal with the resort rate ?
Do I have to check out and then back in to get the value season rate, when the rate changes on July 5th ?

Thanks

Whatever the rate is when you check in is the rate you are charged for your length of stay. If the rate lowers while you are there then you will have to check out and check back in in order to get the less expensive rate.

If you want to get the lower rate, then you need to have 2 reservations. One for each of the seasons. This also means paying 2 deposits. You will not simply be able to check out and back in unless you have separate reservations.
You will have to check out and back in at the front desk. They will give you a new set of room cards for the second half of the stay. We did that last year at the AKL. it took about 5 minutes to check out and in. Although they will tell you that they can't guarantee that you will be able to stay in the same room, it is very very rare that people have to move.
For people not willing to do this, Disney makes a bit extra money for the room, but it also works the same if you check in during a cheaper rate season and the rate goes up while you are there. You then get to pay the lower rate for the whole time.

Another thing to consider which I found out first hand yesterday is that a package is necessary for the dining plan and if you switch resorts or have two ressies you must have two packages: two deposits, two sets of tickets, two hotel ressies. It's the two sets of tickets that end up costing more. After reading these boards I learned to book 1-day tickets on one ressie and then 6-day tickets on the other (for a total of 7, you can do whatever works for you) but splitting the tickets ended up costing us an extra $112 for 2A/2C. Make sure checking in/out/in again makes it worth the while if you are planning to do the dining package.

We will have AP tickets - so no need to worry about the cost of Park entry. We are going to buy the DDE card if available in 2006.

What I will do - keep ressie as is - ie higher rate.
If AP rates come out for our first 1/2 of our vacation - I will do 2 ressies.
First half at Spring AP rate and then 2nd half at value rate.
The if AP rates come out for summer (after July 5th) - I will change the 2nd ressie to the AP rate - and still have 2 ressies.

Maybe we can keep out first set of room keys as a sovenier.
Yes - I would hate to have to change rooms - I will talk to the front desk a few days before July 5th to make sure our room is not given away to an incoming guest.

I never thought 2 weeks would create a problem.
Oh well - live and learn ! :rotfl:
