What rate for Jan ? Need Help !

We are usually Disney people so we are getting into unchartered territory but for my husband's upcoming b-day in Jan he wants to go to Universal ! I was going to get us annual passes. What rate can we expect to pay for either of the 3 hotels (I still haven't decided but are leaning toward RPR) for AP, Fan club or Entertainment rate for Jan. & how soon should we book ? What has anyone gotten in reference to rates in the past & any recommendations.

Also please any suggestions as to what not to miss will be most welcomed. It will be me 35, hubby then 37 & our 2 year old son. How are crowds then ? Thanks !
