Not ALL of any group does or does not do anything. I have a 20 year old, a 13 year old, a 10 year old and a 6 year old. I know more songs by Maroon 5 than I care to admit. I've yelled, "Turn that stuff down" to Korn more times than I care to admit (because I sound like my parents when I listened to Led Zeppelin - and don't you dare ask who that is!).
But when I hear things like "dead bodies" as a song title, and that song is filled with negative things, and it's two days since someone very disturbed killed a bunch of people at a college near me, well, it just makes me worry. My six year old sees his brothers playing these shoot 'em up games, and then runs around the house going, "I'm going to kill you with a gun", it makes me worry. The older boys are no longer allowed to play their games when the younger children are awake, period. The little one cannot watch any movie with any violence in it, no matter what.
Do all violent songs/movies lead directly to someone going on a killing rampage? No. Are all kids incapable of choosing between reality and fantasy? No. But all it takes is one. I figure there is enough real life violence to worry about. Why listen to it in a song?
Now, having said all of that, I can assure you that my parents were none to keen on me listening to Pink Floyd's "We don't need no education" or AC/DC's Highway to h-e-double-toothpicks"! It is the job of every older generation to reflect on the demise of the younger generation! It comes with the papers we get when you are born! You get a birth certificate and a worry certificate.
Now, back to your regular programming! And for the record, AC/DC rules!
