What psychology of mk do you know about?

Dixie Luvr 98, thanks for the confirmation update on the phone booth. As a matter of fact, this week, i did read somewhere (maybe Allears newsletter) about the phone booth being at the Chapeu Shop.

Aren't most of these things fun facts and not psychological design elements. . . IMHO

This is psychological/legend....on Pirates, there's a large hidden room for the CM's to unwind in. It was designed by the infamous George.

Can anyone confirm?

Yes, and once a month the door closes on the room and George claims another soul. At least 468 CMs have disappeared while working on POTC, which has also claimed the lives of 86 guests (and counting).

I tried telling George I didn't believe in him so the ride would break down, but it doesn't work. I only do it when we're in the boat alone because you'll get odd looks.

Love this thread!

I was talking to a CM once about Fastpass, and I made a statement about how I would never wait in line hours for a 2 minute ride. She told me that even though people are waiting for a long time, Disney sets up the lines so you are never far from seeing a 'turn' in the line.. therefore giving you the illusion that you're getting closer and closer to your goal! Very cool!

It's not an ILLUSION.. you are actually getting closer to your destination with each step! Disney thought of Everything with that one!!! :rotfl:

It didn't work because George knew you DO believe in him! If you truely did not believe, you wouldn't have bothered telling him that you didn't!!

This is a great, great thread!! Thanks to all who have posted.

I ran into Woody in Frontierland a few years ago. After asking him if Andy's name was written on the bottom of his boot, I was so disappointed by the shake of his head, his response being "No". For me, that would have been an awesome detail to include with the "costume".

My first thought is that it is indeed disappointing.:sad2:

Upon further practical thought though... just think if you had to be Woody all day standing in the heat with people asking to see Andy's name on the bottom of your boot. I'm sure that with his big head, Woody would have trouble having to keep balancing on 1 foot to show everyone.;)

For more in-depth info on how and why the music of the parks was designed the way it was, check these links:

This is cool! Finally convinced DH to go to Disney next month. He's marginally excited. But, he's a musician, a/v integrator, and trained as an audio engineer. This is the type of stuff he's going to totally eat up! (It's not going to be as fun if he's not as excited about the trip as I am!)

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but there is psychology in Mickey's Philharmagic.

When you walk in, you'll hear people talking in the background, it's hard to hear when its a full crowd, but if its a small crowd, you'll hear a lot more people talking. It's because its actually the show making those noises. It's so when Goofy get's electrocuted (Really a cue for the CMs to know how long they have until the show starts), the background talking starts to quiet down and so does the rest of the audience! When people hear others around them getting quiet, they'll get quiet too.

Also, when Minnie introduces Mickey and his Orchestra, people start clapping. It's actually the CM working the theatre that starts it, then everyone else claps too.

Apparently the in character Disney magic has eaten my brain, because my first thought was "Well of course it isn't there. With all the walking around he does it probably rubbed off."

I'm loving this thread, I just spent the past day reading through it on and off.

I thought the same exact thing when I read that, too!! At least I don't feel so crazy anymore! :rotfl:

This is great, I didn't know that. And way to bring this thread back to the psychology thing!

This is a little off focus, but does anyone know why there is ALWAYS a smell of Natural Gas as you pass through the tunnel at the exit from Splash Mountain?:confused3 (It's close to the little play area for kids.)

Yes, because it is right directly under the train station. I agree. There is always that smell. Gets annoying after a while.
